Fresh hop aroma throughout the whole beer. Not overpowering though with hops, just enough. Nice beer. Enjoyable. wunderbier (1267), Tampere, Finland
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 3, 2004 22 oz, snifter. Grass, spruce, grapefruit, orange hops (H); caramel, toasted bread malt (M); white grape, pineapple, red apple and a hint of peaches. Deep and radiant copper body with a large, creamy, white head that clings to the glass. Moderately sweet, moderately bitter, lightly acidic flavor becomes a lightly sweet, heavily bitter finish. Medium-heavy body, creamy texture, average carbonation, lightly alcoholic. The bottom line is: quite bitter and without the overwhelming acidity of many IIPAs. Solid malting as well. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Aug 1, 2004 Thank you Cornboy! Sample from a 22 oz bottle. Golden clear witha white head. Massive fresh hop aroma. Flavor has hops all over the place, yet is not overwhelmingly bitter. Nice sticky malt backbone. Simple, yet tasty. jeffin7 (610), Silver Spring, Maryland, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 1, 2004 Pours transparent gold with a solid fluffy head that fades. Aroma is of a mixed hop profile rounded nicely by a nice maltyness. Flavor is of an interesting hop profile. Starts off citrusy but there is also some spice and pine. The hops are strong and hold a slight edge but are nearly rounded by the nice earthy malts. A nice IIPA that sets it self just outside of the pack with a slightly unique hop profile. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 1, 2004 Orange copper color, fairly big white head. Hops, pine and some citrus in the aroma. As for the flavor WOW! It’s damn hoppy, bitter yet smooth at the same time. If you love hops this is a must because it’s pretty damn hoppy. Also had some nice citrus in the flavor. Grapefruit maybe? Oh,and did I mention it’s pretty damn hoppy? It’s hopalicious. And thats saying alot coming from a malt guy. Shag (1923), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA

Aroma is pine, raspberries, oranges, flowers. The flavor is very creamy with a moderate hop presence. It has a very pronounced grapefruit flavor. This is yet another great Double IPA, thanks Wunderbier. RERATE 2007 : I didnt recall trying this before but I guess I did! I must say it was still nice but the bitterness has left this beer replaced with some yeasty and malty aspects. I scored it at a 3.7 this time around but Im not changing my original score since I’m not a believer in aging IPAs. unclebleen (620), California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 31, 2004 This reminds me almost exaclty of Stone’s Ruination. Same profile in almost every way. It deviates a bit in the flavor but otherwise is a clone. The flavor is a bit more young than the Ruinations I’ve had in the past few years. A really enjoyable beer, though. I’d buy this often if the cost were not 2.5 times that of Ruination (although in Michigan, this may be as close as I’ll get to Stone beers in this state.) Please read my review of Ruination for more details. ChazyRPh (571), Chazy, New York, USA

Very nice aroma, floral hops with piney accents. Sweet aroma too. Sweet start, with big pine hop hit in the middle, again sweetening out to finish. Nice fruitiness to finish. This came courtesy of Eyedrinkale in a trade, thanks.
