Commercial Description:
This beautiful, deep russet brew has the sweet and somewhat nutty character of Adam Avery's late (1992-2002) Chocolate Lab, for which it is named. Crystal and chocolate malts give this beer a brown sugar maltiness with hints of vanilla and nuts, while subtle hopping gives it an overall drinkability that's second to none, just like Ellie!

Bottle: pours dark brown. Toffee and malty aroma. Crystal malt taste with slight caramel sweetness and a slight hop bite. Good beer but not my favorite Brown.

Pours with a small, tight brown head that fades quick leaving a dark brown body. Aroma of chocolate, dark fruits, a tad vinous. Lots of malt and some toffee. Taste is all malts, nuts, and chocolate with some toffee. Lively carbonation, water like mouthfeel.

Another bottle from a $9.69 six pack at BevMo. This 12 oz bottle poured a rich dark brown and raised a moderate light tan head and light lacing . Nose of chocolate and roasted malts. Medium mouthfeel. Flavor shows malts, chocolate, and nuts. Dry finish. Pretty good brown.

Pours deep brown into a shaker. Offwhite head recedes leaving spot lacing. Cocoa aromas. Chocolate and malts upfront. Crisp and dry in the finish.

Recently added to the tap selection in ESPN Zone Denver. Dark clear nut brown. Vaguely cidery quality to the otherwise simple crystal malt falvour. Not very nutty or hoppy to me. I’ll have to try this one again some time.

A canonical brown. Looks fantastic. Aroma is nutty, hint of roast, and some good malt. Flavor is just excellent, nice malt with some good hop hints. Finish is clean and good. You can’t go wrong with this brown. Avery’s kinda known for their huge beers, but this is one of their best, methinks.
