Commercial Description:
This beautiful, deep russet brew has the sweet and somewhat nutty character of Adam Avery's late (1992-2002) Chocolate Lab, for which it is named. Crystal and chocolate malts give this beer a brown sugar maltiness with hints of vanilla and nuts, while subtle hopping gives it an overall drinkability that's second to none, just like Ellie!

Poured from bottle 4/2008. Hop, veggies and gas in aroma. Nice looking dark bronze. Roasted malt, hop, banana, vanilla, grass in flavor. Nice mix which blends well as you drink. Nice finish. Solid.

bottle given to me by BeerGestapo. thanks Mike. pours a cola brown with a beige head. smells of caramel and nuts. the taste is exactly like the description says and its very well balanced. very sessionable. it might not be the most complex beer in the world but it is highly enjoyable.

12 oz. bottle on 2/23/2008. Deep. clear brown body under a healthy, foamy light tan head that collapses pretty quickly. Nice malty aroma with notes of molasses, caramel, and roasted nuts. Smooth medium body with a gentle richness and light stickiness. The malty sweetness dominates the flavor, layered over a very soft bitterness that provides a subtle balance. Very easy to drink, not assertive, a good session beer that would match up well with a variety of foods.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with little to no head. Smells of caramel, malts and molasses. Tastes much the same, very smooth and pretty tasty. I could drink a few of these, but there are better brown ales out there.
