Commercial Description:
This beautiful, deep russet brew has the sweet and somewhat nutty character of Adam Avery's late (1992-2002) Chocolate Lab, for which it is named. Crystal and chocolate malts give this beer a brown sugar maltiness with hints of vanilla and nuts, while subtle hopping gives it an overall drinkability that's second to none, just like Ellie!

12 oz bottle purcahsed at The Oak. Pours a deep dark brown with slight burnt orange notes on the very edges with a smallish off white head. Bitter sweet chocolate aroma, nutty, bready. Big malt flavor that finishes with a slight bitter sweet bite that quickly disappears. Very reminiscent of an English Nut Brown style but with a much thicker bigger body.

Had on tap at the Flying Saucer in Nashville. Arrived a chocolate, deep brown color. Aroma of nuts, biscuits, sweet chocolate and also some floral. Taste was more of the smell, with a malty, balanced hop flavor.

Bottle. Very dark brown. Medium head. Okay this smells like brown ale, seriously it has a malty roasty flavor with light hint at chocolate. Malty and roasty. Heavier than some browns. Some caramel and touch of coffee. Good.

Bottle. Mostly clear light brown with a brief loose white head. Nice nutty aroma with a hint of roast in the back. Somewhat creamy palate. Brief hint of bitter to start, then the nuttiness comes in. The finish suggests some roast and has a very slight hoppiness. A very good brown - it is far from being boring and the light roast would make for a good session brew.
