Commercial Description:
This beautiful, deep russet brew has the sweet and somewhat nutty character of Adam Avery's late (1992-2002) Chocolate Lab, for which it is named. Crystal and chocolate malts give this beer a brown sugar maltiness with hints of vanilla and nuts, while subtle hopping gives it an overall drinkability that's second to none, just like Ellie!

I really enjoy this brown ale. It has deep notes of cocoa and coffee on boiht the nose and the mouthfeel. The palate is actually a cross between crisp and chewy. One of the best brown ales I have ever had.

I really liked this beer; it is the best brown ale I’ve had in recent memory. Its flavor is quite a nice combination nuttiness and roastiness. Quite well done. Aroma is an attractive red-brown with copius amounts of loose cumulus-looking head. Aroma is a nice sweet caramel-ness. Flavor is as I mentioned above. Mouthfeel is unremarkable. All-in-all quite solid and highly recommended.

Brown of color with a nice beige head. An aroma of caramel, sweets, dark fruits and roasted malt. A flavor of caramel , nuts and sweets, and notes of smoke.

Bottle. Sweetish malt aroma with strong nuttiness and medium caramel and toffee. Some apparent roast. Clear amber body with a large, fizzy tan head. Sweet roast taste with mild prickling from carbonation, light hops, toffee, chocolate, and nuttiness. Medium-light body. Pretty surprised and happy with this, one of the better Browns.

Appearance mimics the style with a large, tan, well laced head. Roasted, chocolate malt aroma along with some caramel and a faint whiff of nuts. Moderately hopped, toasted malt taste with semisweet chocolate, sweetened coffee and mild nutty flavors. Smooth, medium-bodied, decently carbonated mouthfeel with a long lasting finish.

355ml bottle (Pikkulintu, Helsinki , American Week 2007). Full rich burnt coffee aroma - do breath this in deeply - fill your lungs. Taste is a surprise, the burntness bursts through. This is more traditional (three thirds) porter than brown ale. A little sour but that works well in this context.

This beer pours a nice dark brown color with some really nice head retension. There are some sweet earthy smells of wood and mild hops. It has a nice bittersweet earthy taste of mild hops and aged wood.
