| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 17, 2006 A dark brown appearance with a diminishing tan head. A chocolate, caramel, and milky aroma. The flavor is rather sweet with a big nutty presence. A rich milk chocolate and caramel taste. The aftertaste leaves a slight bitterness on the tounge. This is a damn fine brown. xav33 (313), Midland, MI, Michigan, USA

12 oz bottle
Unknown bottling, absorbed 08/06
Medium pour in a pint glass.
Poured mahogony with a mostly diminishing frothy 1/4 inch light mocha head.
Smelt of mixed nuts and some chocolate malts.
Taste begins with a tinge of chocolate malts and sweetness, then gets nutty in the body to finish with a mostly lingering crisper hop bite and astringent dry nutty malt taste. Mouthfeel was dry and carbonated.
Overall, an average dry nutty brown ale. grimreeser (797), Minnesota, USA

Not the strongest aroma. Nice lively but not too lively palate feel. Nice finish. Very well done. elektronikfagtekniker (892), kbh, Denmark

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 5, 2006 12 oz. bottle from Morgan’s. Drank on 7/19/06. Very clear, nice deep brown w/red hues when held to the light. Thick, creamy 2" tan head. Drops very slowly. Big, thick layer of foam lasts. Big lacing. Aroma - not very strong. Malty, a little smokey maybe. Flavor - Nice and balanced, slightly towards malty all the way from the start to the swallow. Underlying sweet, chocolatey maltiness on the tongue. This really comes out in the finish. Palate - medium, nice and smooth. Mellow carb. Easily drinkable. Overall - Great brown ale. I’m not a huge fan of this style, but this is definitely one of the best I’ve had. Smooth, tasty, and not overly nutty. Nice sweet finish. Strykzone (1477), Wood River, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 4, 2006 This is a nice looking beer that is only a little lighter in color than a porter. It has a nice tan head that grew to just under an inch. Aroma is malty but not overlly sweet. Chocolate flavors are present and there is a roastiness. Brown sugar is advertised but I don’t taste it. Perhaps some coffee, but no brown sugar. There is also just a hint of tartness that forms in the middle of the tongue. duff (5475), Surrey, Greater London, England

Some sweet nuttyness and perhaps a touch of berry fruit aswell, actually no not really. This is fairly straight forward. jerc (3911), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 30, 2006 Bottle. Dark brown body with a good sized beige head. Chocolate malt, and nutty not quite roast in the aroma. Similar flavour, with more nutty chocolate up front, a sweet malty middle with light roast and a hint of coffee bitterness in the finish. Average palate. An extremely good example of the style.
