Commercial Description:
15 years of brewing! You know what’s been the best part lately? Tons of experimentation! For the last couple of years, we’ve been working with several strains of brettanomyces (wild yeast). We found one and deemed it the best for it’s tart flavor and funky, fruity aroma. Adding black mission figs for a subtle jammy aspect, hibiscus flowers for an herbal bouquet and hazy sunset hue, and white pepper for a bit of spicy twang, we’ve created FIFTEEN - a unique drinking experience inspired by the wild farmhouse ales of Belgium. Though immensely complex today, more flavor will emerge with time, so throw a few bottles in your cellar for future celebrations. Thanks to all of you who have made our 15-year ride possible! Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, hops, black mission figs, hibiscus flowers, white pepper, and a very unique strain of brettanomyces yeast.

6-19-09: 22oz. Very clear blonde with a bubbly white head, which doesn’t really last that long. Aroma is decidedly funky and spicy from the brett. A little fruitiness hides in it, though. Flavor is interesting. Quite estery. A bit musky. Spicy, as it warms up. The hibiscus comes through in the middle of the flavor. The finish is dry and brings a tartness that lingers in the aftertaste. Carbonation is pretty sharp, which works well for the beer. The strength kinda sneaks up on you - it’s hidden pretty well. I’ve not had a beer that’s as dominated by brett flavors and aroma as this one. Fortunately, Avery’s done a pretty good job with it.

11-16-09: Bomber again. It’s a bit orange hued this time, still a bubbly white head, with a bit of lacing. Brett tinge in the aroma is not quite so strong as the sweet floral notes. There’s a nice level of tartness in the flavor that blends well with the spices. I had thought this beer would be on its way downhill by now, but it seems to be the opposite. Nice sparkling carbonation, too. This is really drinking well right now.

Pours a clear golden color with a moderate pillowy white head. Good retention and lacing. Aroma of brett, dry hay and raisins. Flavor is sweet dried fruits (figs) and caramel malt. Brett is present, although not as strong as in the aroma. Mouthfeel is dry and slightly astringent. Some alcohol burn in the finish. The brett in this is nicely balanced and doesn’t overpower the other flavors. This would be a decent "Intro to Brettanomyces" beer for someone getting into craft beers, but beyond that it’s just an OK beer.

[22 oz] Nice aromatic nose; very brett-focused, with some mild spiciness. Pours an effervescent golden color with a nice layer of foam. Flavors are full of spice, with strong fruit esters blending with all the brett. Finishes a bit sweet. An interesting beer, indeed.

Bomber. An interesting brew - clear gold with a white head. Very bretty nose, funky and sour, but tempered with a whole lot of fig and tropical fruitiness. rather sweet flavor, fruity with an emphasis on fig, lightly spicy. Finish comes off somewhat dry and lightly funky tart. This brew really grew on me, and I was sorry to find the bottom of the bottle.

Pours hazy pale orange. Nose is of Italian seasoning and banana peel. Taste is rather bitter, lots of cluttered spice flavor, kind of a kitchen cabinet flavor. Lots of brett, lots of herb flavors. Tastes like a dry pork rub.

Incredibly fruity and sweet smell. Tart tastes mixed with sweet flavors. Very well mixed and balanced. Sweet and smooth.
