Commercial Description:
15 years of brewing! You know what's been the best part lately? Tons of experimentation! For the last couple of years, we've been working with several strains of brettanomyces (wild yeast). We found one and deemed it the best for it's tart flavor and funky, fruity aroma. Adding black mission figs for a subtle jammy aspect, hibiscus flowers for an herbal bouquet and hazy sunset hue, and white pepper for a bit of spicy twang, we've created FIFTEEN - a unique drinking experience inspired by the wild farmhouse ales of Belgium. Though immensely complex today, more flavor will emerge with time, so throw a few bottles in your cellar for future celebrations. Thanks to all of you who have made our 15-year ride possible! Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, hops, black mission figs, hibiscus flowers, white pepper, and a very unique strain of brettanomyces yeast.

22 oz bottle from Bev4less. Pours a cloudy yellow-orange with a small white head that quickly recedes to 1/4 inch. The aroma is loaded with funky brett, pepper, herbs and something floral. The taste was interesting with many complex flavors, as described in the aroma, but it really did not appeal to me. This all seemed to come together as a bit experimental. The mouthfeel was on the thin side and the carbonation was soft. The finish was long with lingering floral accents and something that tasted like burped-up vitamins. Overall: Much is amiss and out of balance with this one, but I still give them points for trying.

(10/26/08) Bottle at Barcade in Brooklyn. Hazy orange color. Aroma of some green apples, bretty notes and some malt. Sweetish-sourish flavor with some fruits, a bit too much yeast and some spicy notes. Medium-bodied with lots of carbonation. Quite nice.

I thought this was quite good. Pours a clear gold with white head. Its a strange combo of flavors. A little bit like a saison, lemon zest, grass, and funkiness, but also some fruit, banana, nuts, pepper, clove, and bread. This is underrated, I would like to celler a couple bottles.

Sparky sent this along to me as a bonus, thanks man. I was in the mood for something "different", and this fit the bill nicely. Pours a hazy orange/yellow, with some nice clouds. Nose is almost Christmas-y, spice, figs, plums, yeast, gingerbread, and clove. Dry finish with a nice mouthfeel. Flavor is solid for a farmhouse, the cheesecloth and funk take a backseat to the spice, but it didn’t bother me any. The dark fruit and spice work well together, and the christmas flavors work as balance. This one is underrated, I wouldn’t mind having one to age.

Poured a gold body with strong white head. Aroma is pleasantly funky. A bit of a letdown upon the first sip. Seems like a mess of fruit, spices, sugar. Just way too busy.

22oz Bomber. Poured gold with white head. Smelled funky, yeasty and figs. Tasted slightly sour with a strong fig and spice combination. I didn’t think it was as bad as people say it was, just really not my cup of tea.
