Commercial Description:
For 14 wonderful years, we have been creating libations for ourselves in the hope that some others out there would share our eccentric palates and support us. Many thanks to all of you who do! Here is yet another quirky brew: a very dark and different, dry-hopped ale. Style? hard to say, you decide. Just expect massive molasses maltiness, limitless fruits on the nose and an imposing floral & zesty dry-hop finish. Peace to all and follow your dreams!

Sampled at DØE Beerfestival 2009, Valby. Pours adark brown beer with an offwhite head. The aroma is hoppy, and the flavor is hops (citrus), and sweetness. The palate leaves sweetness. Overall a good but strong beer.

The big puffy head that is light brown and like a honeycomb. Purple with red at the edges. Specks of lace. Looks quite nice. The smell is deep, roasted dark malts. Burnt chocolate and port wine. The malt is gritty and grainy. Burnt and sweet. Strong, complex. Dark plums and raisins. The taste is sweet, sugary malt, then a hint of cigarette ashes. Reminiscent of a barleywine or a Belgian Dubbel. Really pungent like a dry red wine at the end. Hints of cocoa and mocha. Lots of grainy barley. The feel is ashy but with a milky, honey-like smoothness. Bites on the way down. A pretty good, very strong beer. Heavy, ashy, sweet and rich.

Medium brown head. Dark red body. Intense malty raisiny caramelly aroma with toffee, alcohol, mint, and resin notes. Sweet-dry syrupy roasty chocolate wood and raisins taste with roasty malt notes. Full body. Smooth, yet sharpish mouthfeel. Dry bitter dark chocolate aftertaste. Excellent! (0.655l bottle at Oslo beer junta tasting.)

From bottle@Københavnske Øldage 2009. Low, dense beige cream head. Opaque, dark brown body. Aroma is sweetish malty and hoppy. Some acidulous fruits, spices and roastedness. Sweet-flavored, rich roasted malty and distinct fruity, earthy and resinous hop bitter. Near full-bodied. Hoppy bitterness goes on in a long finish. Very good stuff, powerful and nicely balanced.

bottle from ølbutikken, enjoyed at home after work. (bottled in 2007) dark almost clear brown/very dark amber, large smooth light brown head. sweet malty aroma, some dark fruits, some alc, a few hops have survived the aging. chocolate. complex aroma. flavor is sweet malty, mouldy or a little oxidized, faint chocolate, dark fruits, strong alc, but not unpleasant, sweetness is balanced by a spicy peppery slight piny flavor, could be hops. in general it reminds me of what would happen if you mixed up 1/2 barley wine and 1/4th belgish quad and 1/4th imp. stout.. As it warmed up the mouldy flavor got away entirely, but i got some licorice and roasted grains instead. this rating then reflects the entire experience, cause it sure got better as it warmed up.

I am a fan of these dark IPAs showing up, a couple of them Canadian. I received complexity between a good amount of hops and malt and barley. One of the better Avery’s. Hoppy and dark and hoppy bubbly head. Very drinkable with supper. Good mouthfeel.
