Commercial Description:
For 14 wonderful years, we have been creating libations for ourselves in the hope that some others out there would share our eccentric palates and support us. Many thanks to all of you who do! Here is yet another quirky brew: a very dark and different, dry-hopped ale. Style? hard to say, you decide. Just expect massive molasses maltiness, limitless fruits on the nose and an imposing floral & zesty dry-hop finish. Peace to all and follow your dreams!

Pours a dark ruby with a large tan head. Lots of grapefruit and pine in the nose, with a good bit of malts as well. Taste is similar with pepper thrown in along with a bit of burnt cherry and fish sauce. Not too thin, but not chewy. Very balanced with a nice long finish. Reminds me of sitting in front of a fire in the fall, with winter well on its way.

Pours out a nice deep reddish black color with a beige lacing. aroma is full of roasted malt, fruitiness and sweetness. flavor is very nice. has a lot of malt and a nice sweetness and hop balance. the alcohol was present in the finish. gave it a nice warming effect. overall this is a great brew.

Dark ruby beery with a lasting light beige head. Initial aroma is "dry hopped Avery", with that great balance of the grapefruit, the peach and the pine. Also some chocolate, molasses, wood, caramel and a hint of alcohol. Flavour is rather sweet, full of dark, roast malt, chocolate, and a little alcohol. Long aftertaste of classic porter "charcoal". Unusual and a little confusing to drink since aroma and flavour doesn’t quite match.

Bottled sample via oakbluff. Nearly opaque dark brown with moderate carbonation. Aromas of citric hops, bready munich malts, and a bit of a vegital note. Flavors are of hot bean sprouts, toasted and caramel malts, and cinnamon? Full bodied, with a slightly dry finish. Sort of an unusual brew, but still fairly good.

22 oz bomber. Yeah I love this company. Once again Avery delivers with a unique ber for unique people. Pours an almost solid black with a large light brown frothy head that begs to be drank. Big citrus hop aroma with lots of chocolate in the background, slight pine but mostly an alcohol orange chocolate come to mind as I sniff this beauty. Body is solid with noticable carbonation on the back of my throat a quickly disipating palate and a medium body. Flavor of grapefruit, chocolate, malt, raisin bread and alcohol. Despite my horrible description this is one decent beer!! Go try some for something different for something that works!!

Bottle. Clear medium amber / brown color with a average, frothy / creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, grapefruit, alcohol. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (261007)

My first thought with my first sip was: "What an interesting and strange brew!" A lot of the flavors I just can’t put my finger on. Is it rye? The molasses is definetly there - a strong wheatiness and pleasant hoppiness. It really tastes pretty strong. Not much sweetness - in fact, pretty dry finish. There are pleasant cocoa-notes that you pick up here and there. Good.
