Commercial Description:
For 14 wonderful years, we have been creating libations for ourselves in the hope that some others out there would share our eccentric palates and support us. Many thanks to all of you who do! Here is yet another quirky brew: a very dark and different, dry-hopped ale. Style? hard to say, you decide. Just expect massive molasses maltiness, limitless fruits on the nose and an imposing floral & zesty dry-hop finish. Peace to all and follow your dreams!

Poured a very scary looking watery deep dark brown with a creamy, lacing light brown head. Aroma is very interesting, I expected more of a floral, citrus nose and what I found was a nose more like a Abbey Triple with yeast and medicine at the front with pine and grapefruit in the background. Flavor crazy, all over the place. When it hits the tongue you get heavy malt and fruit (grapes, apples, oranges). Then as it envelopes the tongue you get a barley wine type flavor with heat, alcohol, candy and yeast like a Belgian. Finish is slightly syrupy, slightly astringent but very drinkable. This was very unique and a cornucopia of flavors.

Bottle. Dark brown, almost black with a enormous light brown head. Aroma is piney, honey, heather, coffee, fruity and caramel. Nice body, warming alcohol, rather sweet at first but then turns bitter. Hoppy flavour, quite oily, notes of dark fruits, pines, mocha, oranges and wood. A very interresting brew, I think of it as a DIPA with a touch of roasted barley. I hope they make it regular!

A Mes rate: Bottle at RBESG. Can’t see what all the fuss is about myself. Dark body with a slight tan head. Smells of molluscs. Totally over the top in the mouth with nothing even close to finesse. Sickly sweet. Very sticky. Not my thing at all.

Bottle thanks to Jens, rbesg07. Aroma has lots of pine, quite a bit of fruity yeast and balancing caramalt. Taste is similar syrupy malt character with piny forest hops balancing.

22 oz. bomber. Pours an extremely dark brown (almost black) with dark amber highlights and a thick, pillowy, unevenly-bubbled, short-lived, tan foam that leaves thick streaks and spots of lace on the glass. The aroma is very strong and is an interesting mix of alcohol, cocoa powder, vinous malts, and green, grassy hops. The flavor starts malty and sweet with lots of chocolate intertwined beautifully with the smell of sticky, earthy hops. The middle of the tongue picks up lots of dark fruit (prunes, chocolate-covered raisins) and molasses. The finish is full-bodied, is strongly alcoholic, and combines dark roasted, pungent malts with an interesting, fruity hop bitterness. The mouthfeel is seductive: it is full-bodied but lightened by luxurious, creamy bubbles. There is a touch of oiliness around the middle of the tongue. Overall, this beer rocks. It is even better than their past two anniversary beers (which I thought were quite pleasing, too).

Bottle. Dark red with chocolate colored head. Aromas of molasses, raisins, figs, and alcohol. Tastes of bitter chocolate (mocha) and coffee with a thick lasting mouthfeel. A very good beer that we will drink again.

Bottle from Barleywine, Copenhagen. Dark brown with lasting white head. Mainly hops in the aroma. Very malty balanced. Dark fruits, caramel & toffee. Good lacings. Very warm with a medium body & a good hoppy dry finish! Nice!

Bomber. Pours very, very dark reddish brown with dense tan head. The aroma is very fruity-- tons of candied pineapple, some grapefruit, cherry, lime, and papaya. There are also milder scents of raisin and green wood. The flavor is very piney at first, and an assertive, darker woodiness follows quickly. The initial edge wears off soon and a maltiness reminiscent of molasses and ultra-bitter chocolate moves through the middle of the mouth. Some fruitiness pops out here and there, usually in the form of pineapple or grapefruit. The finish is somewhat dry and woody with a peanut-shell tone to it. Dry nuttiness lingers in the aftertaste. Pretty good brew.
