Commercial Description:
For 14 wonderful years, we have been creating libations for ourselves in the hope that some others out there would share our eccentric palates and support us. Many thanks to all of you who do! Here is yet another quirky brew: a very dark and different, dry-hopped ale. Style? hard to say, you decide. Just expect massive molasses maltiness, limitless fruits on the nose and an imposing floral & zesty dry-hop finish. Peace to all and follow your dreams!

22 oz. brown, bomber bottle. 2007 batch. Poured out a deep ruby color, with an overflowing mocha colored head. Huge, sticky, very lacy head on it. Aromas are of cocoa powder right off the bat, along with subtle alcohols, dark rum, subtle hop aromas. Flavors are of dark rum, sweet malts, hops, burnt sugar, toffee. Sharp finish to it. Slight chocolate wheat flavor in the mix. Medium mouthfeel, rich & thick body. Good beer overall.

Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus, courtesy of an ohio dad trade. Pours a Dark Amber with a fruit/molasses aroma and tin. Alcohol and fruit flavor. It was good but I was slightly dissapointed.

Medium to dark brown body sits under an ample beige head. Nose is greeted by cookie dough, nuts, some hoppy citrus, brown sugar. A slightly syrupy texture to its medium body and lively carbonation. The flavor is a malty/hoppy blend that is appealing.

Bottle. Pours hazy brown with an average creamy light brown head, somewhat diminishing, fair lacing. Aroma is light malt (cookie, caramel, burnt), heavy hops (perfume, pine, spruce), light yeast (dough, leather) with notes of dates and cola. Medium bodied, alcoholic texture, average carbonation and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness, heavy acidity and bitterness.

Bottle. As the description says, a dubbel IPA. Malty like an Abbey dubbel and hoppy like an IPA. A nice beer. Pushes the limits of style interpretations.

From a 22 oz. bomber bottle, bottled in 2007, a blurb along the right side of label, sampled just above cellar temperature in a tulip glass. A nice looking dark brown Belgian ale appearance, a large creamy, tiny bubbly topped beige head, good retention, slowly dissipates into a thin sudsy lacing, small amount of laced sticking. A good smelling dark ale, flowery and minty herbal hops, citric fruitiness, earthy and spicy, sweet dark lightly roasted malts. The carbonation helps provide for a creamy smooth medium body, roasted dark malts, cocoa and coffee, spicy alcohol, warms the palate, the alcohol and the malts mesh together towards the end, spicy dark bread, coffee nutty, dark molasses, dates and raisins, dry leafy, herbal hops that progress to a citric, tangerine rind bitterness, peppery, hop oily, and a dry hoppy, coffee bitter finish. This is an easy sipper that take restraint from quaffing, tasty and balanced, just well done. This is easily now my favorite anniversary ale from Avery, I can’t wait for the fifteenth.

22oz bomber purchased at Bevmo I think. All my glasses are dirty so I used a pint glass which leads to odder descriptions. Pours dark brownish black with a 3 finger puffy tan head. The nose is mellow and malty. The taste is rich with mocha and malts with a touch of hops. Its a big beer in a lot of respects. Almost too much mocha on the taste for me.
