Commercial Description:
For 14 wonderful years, we have been creating libations for ourselves in the hope that some others out there would share our eccentric palates and support us. Many thanks to all of you who do! Here is yet another quirky brew: a very dark and different, dry-hopped ale. Style? hard to say, you decide. Just expect massive molasses maltiness, limitless fruits on the nose and an imposing floral & zesty dry-hop finish. Peace to all and follow your dreams!

22 oz bottle. Poured a clear deep reddish-brown color. Head was thick and light tan with good retention and lacing. Aroma was a combination of grassy hops, roasted nuts, and molasses. There were also occasional whiffs of anise, clove, and sassafras. Roasty and sweet up front with delicate acidity at the end accompanied by a touch of alcohol and lingering moderate hop bitterness. Overall, the alcohol flavor is minimal despite the almost 9.5% AbV. Malty molasses, toasted bread, and subdued clove round out the flavors. Not a bad beer.

22oz bomber purchased at Bevmo I think. All my glasses are dirty so I used a pint glass which leads to odder descriptions. Pours dark brownish black with a 3 finger puffy tan head. The nose is mellow and malty. The taste is rich with mocha and malts with a touch of hops. Its a big beer in a lot of respects. Almost too much mocha on the taste for me.

Chicago trip. Monday 21:20. Bottle. Long lasting thick head. Dark almost opaque red copper. Weird hop and fruit aroma; grapes and plums. Black Belgian. Strong molasses with a hint of nuts. Sweet.

bottle from ølbutikken, enjoyed at home after work. (bottled in 2007) dark almost clear brown/very dark amber, large smooth light brown head. sweet malty aroma, some dark fruits, some alc, a few hops have survived the aging. chocolate. complex aroma. flavor is sweet malty, mouldy or a little oxidized, faint chocolate, dark fruits, strong alc, but not unpleasant, sweetness is balanced by a spicy peppery slight piny flavor, could be hops. in general it reminds me of what would happen if you mixed up 1/2 barley wine and 1/4th belgish quad and 1/4th imp. stout.. As it warmed up the mouldy flavor got away entirely, but i got some licorice and roasted grains instead. this rating then reflects the entire experience, cause it sure got better as it warmed up.

Medium brown head. Dark red body. Intense malty raisiny caramelly aroma with toffee, alcohol, mint, and resin notes. Sweet-dry syrupy roasty chocolate wood and raisins taste with roasty malt notes. Full body. Smooth, yet sharpish mouthfeel. Dry bitter dark chocolate aftertaste. Excellent! (0.655l bottle at Oslo beer junta tasting.)

Dark brown/black with a dense and large yellow beige head. Huge chocolate and roasted malt aroma. Great malt and hop balance for such a big beer. Great chocolate flavor - love it.

The aroma is lightly hopped and has some coffee. Flavor is surprisingly full bodied and has much more coffee. A black beer, fairly thick, and there is nothing in the flavor or aroma to suggest the high abv.

Bottled. POurs out in a very hazy brown colour with a steady tan-coloured head. Malty aroma of cocoa, nuts and milky chocolte with piney undertones. Full flavour of roasted malts, chocolate, cocoa and oranges with flowery and grpafruity notes. Full but not so chewy body. Cocoa, flowers and graspfruit in the finish.
