Commercial Description:
For 14 wonderful years, we have been creating libations for ourselves in the hope that some others out there would share our eccentric palates and support us. Many thanks to all of you who do! Here is yet another quirky brew: a very dark and different, dry-hopped ale. Style? hard to say, you decide. Just expect massive molasses maltiness, limitless fruits on the nose and an imposing floral & zesty dry-hop finish. Peace to all and follow your dreams!

The beer after its pour from the 22 ounce bottle appears with a slight bit of haze in the mahogany body, ruby highlights at the edges, the head a creamy tan crown that towers above the body, as it surrenders to the forces of nature, the lacing seals the glass with a fine coating. Nose is sweet with malt, hints of hops and alcohol, caramel, black walnuts, and a citrus like crispness, bodes well for what’s to come. Front has a nice malt rich flavor with the hops providing a flowery bitterness, top is rich and full to the palate. The end time brings on a hop spicy freshness with the acidity providing the crispness, somewhat dry aftertaste continues the sweetness and the hops providing the tart twang, a consummate example of the brewer’s art.

Darn near black, fair label, nice foil neck and bottle, medium khaki head that you can walk on. Dark malty aroma. I was a bit disappointed - the brew lacked cohesion. Initial olive flavors, some metal, strongly char-bittered. Finishes out with an unpleasant burnt character and some nuts. Medium heavy mouth. Better luck next year.

Bottle shared with Hogtown Harry, his bottle. Very dark brown, huge thick foamy brown head - looks great. Smokey, peaty, some yeast in interesting aroma. Taste is also very interesting - smoky, sweet, hoppy, chewy, campfire like. Complex. Very original and hard to describe. I liked it a lot.

Bottle: Deep brown pour with ruby tints in the light, topped by a tan, creamy head. Aroma shows some sweet rye malt hints. There’s also some spicy/peppery hallertau suggestions, plastic-y, and sweet fruits of berries & plums. Creamy, velvety mouth feel. Flavor has some big spicy malts upfront. There’s also some fruity character of dark berries, nutty/brown sugar hints, and toasty toffee. The finish has a great roasted character which is almost coffee-ish. A bit less hoppy than I like my ASAs, but the malt depth is quality and has a balancing roastiness. No sign of alcohol in the flavor, and just a nice tasty Ale.

[614-20070914] 1pt6floz (w/ blankboy, jerc, tupalev). Apple peel booze and dark malt aroma has "dark fig fruit" characteristics. Dark brown red body with a medium-lasting creamy light tan head. Roasted malt and boozy toast flavour is a little sweet. Full body. Nice full beer.

Appearance: Pours a dark brown, ruby edged body with a full, beige head. Smell: An earthy and sweet-smelling aroma of aromatic tobacco, toasted marshmallows, brown sugar cookies, perfumy pine, and a dash of candied ginger. Taste: Largely malty, with flavors of caramel, brown sugar, dark chocolate, and coffee culminating in a distinct mocha taste. A hint of figs adds a bit of fruitiness. The hops provide a piney bite near the end while the alcohol gives plenty of heat. Finishes bittersweet. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Sticky mouthfeel. Drinkability: Well, that’s all I can currently think of for this one. I’m sure there’s even more lurking in there if you take the time to pick it apart. An interesting beer with plenty of appeal.

Tap. Pours to a dark brown body with a lasting tan head and nice lacing. The beer has an aroma that’s sort of dank and simple dark grains. Dark chocolate, granola. I struggled on this one and did not finish my half glass (I was the DD). The flavor is oddly spicy. Chocolate, anise, and allspice. Very strange. The palate is rich, smooth, and velvety.

From bottle. Nice sweet hoppy nose, plum and grassy hops. Pine. Twizzlers. Mild ozone and light roasted grains. Alcohol vapor, rich and hoppy. Dark black-brown with cocoa-colored lacing head. Medium-heavy body with medium carbonation. Starts sweet and rich with some caramel malt and brown sugar. Alcohol warming. Mild hoppy finish, fairly sweet. Big beer, very pronounced profiles, and still a bit hot.
