Commercial Description:
For 14 wonderful years, we have been creating libations for ourselves in the hope that some others out there would share our eccentric palates and support us. Many thanks to all of you who do! Here is yet another quirky brew: a very dark and different, dry-hopped ale. Style? hard to say, you decide. Just expect massive molasses maltiness, limitless fruits on the nose and an imposing floral & zesty dry-hop finish. Peace to all and follow your dreams!

22oz bottle - Odd, I had this one months ago and don’t have my review entered. Anyway, it poured dark brown and mostly clear. It had a caramel malt aroma with some citrus hop notes. The flavor was sweet malt with chocolate and those nicely balanced citrus accented hops. I’ve noted that this big beer was very enjoyable without completely blowing me away. Another job well done from Avery...

22oz. bottle. Intriguing aroma, featuring an array of malt and hop characteristics, including darkly toasted toffeeish sweetness, dried fruits, spruce, floral perfume, pineapple and earthiness along with a lighter degree of doughy yeast, peppery alcohol and faint smoke. Deep, clear mahogany color with a lasting, fine, creamy tan head. Flavor profile is also fairly well balanced, with sweet, roasty, caramelized malts and a hint of cocoa combined with a brief hop bite up front followed by a lingering bitterness and citric, spicy character, and seeing a bittersweet, long, mildly alcoholic, semi-dry finish. Palate is fairly active and gently astringent, slightly sticky and combined with a full body. Certainly unique and flavorful, although I found it a bit harsh in places. Regardless, Happy 14th!

Distinctly unique dark and hoppy beer. Abysmal chocolate black body with a nice two-finger beige-white head. Quite mellow for its ABV and appearance. Deep red and mahogany tones appeared. Liquorish and molasses in the front with a great sweet dry-hop finish. Belgian yeast and floral NW hops make this beer a dubbel IPA to say the very least.

bottle. This thing was big and matly malty malty!! Brew poured a motor oil black with a huge tan head. Nose was chocolate, toffee, caramel, some spice as well. I t was a little rough on my palet, probably because it was my first strong ale in quite some time.

22 oz. bottle from Plaza Liquors - Pours a dark brown color with a large, two finger thick light tan head that slowly dissipates. Lots of thick lacing. Aroma is toasted malt, esters, and floral hops. Flavor has lots of malt. Light roasted malt with a touch of chocolate and some light esters. It also has a touch of PNW hops in the flavor. Medium body. Smooth palate. Alcohol is slightly noticeable. I like beers. Throw a bunch of shit in there and see what you come up with. Good job Avery. Much better than the last couple anniversary beers.

Dark, dark brown with a light brown head on it in a trappist glass. Smell is of some hops, licorice like maltiness, and almost belgian like yeast. Very unique smell. Very unique taste as well, with a rich, thick, malty, definite licorice like sweetness, a bit of alcohol is present, but not bad for 9.5%, and perhaps again, a belgian like almost very light spiced quality to it. Different than any other American Strong Ale I’ve had, and much more drinkable. Reminds me a touch of New Belgium’s Abbey. Although not quite my speed, I can see some people really enjoying this beer.

Bottle from BevMo. Pours a very deep ruby color. Strong hoppy aroma with a good amount of roasted chocolate and coffee. Some yeasty bubblegum as well. Like a mixture of a stout a Belgian and an IPA. Some dark fruit along with some roasted matls up front. A hint of yeasty sweetness along with a decent amount of hoppy bitterness. Alcohol is well hidden. Good stuff.

courtesy of gunhaver. pours out dark brown with creamy golden/beige head. Aroma is just loaded with malts, molasses, dark fruits Taste really didn’t have too much hops to be noticed. Lots of roasted malts with complex dark fruits presence and underlying notes of chocolate.
