Commercial Description:
For 14 wonderful years, we have been creating libations for ourselves in the hope that some others out there would share our eccentric palates and support us. Many thanks to all of you who do! Here is yet another quirky brew: a very dark and different, dry-hopped ale. Style? hard to say, you decide. Just expect massive molasses maltiness, limitless fruits on the nose and an imposing floral & zesty dry-hop finish. Peace to all and follow your dreams!

Intriguing nose right out of the bottle!. Near black pour with deep, garnet highlights and a head that seems to keep growing as it sits. Head is beige-tan, very full, and creamy, rootbeer float-like; lasting ability is tremendous and lacing is sporatic. Nose is one of the more interesting things I’ve ever smelled; pine resins catch the nose first with what seems to be an estery grapefruit note. Other notes include hazlenut, figs, molasses, light roast, some floral aftertones, and light yeast; so many flavors not usually found in one beer. Flavor is nice but doesn’t match the nose; so many flavors to list, anise, hazlenut, cocoa, dark chocolate, light roast, some molasses, light fig, and all surrounded by pine resins. Palate is medium-full, moderate carbonation, and velvety. Finish is a bit distracting, a little chalky and dry, dark chocolate, and zesty, bitter resins with some lingering floral notes and moderate warmth. I don’t even know where to start with this one, so many different things going on. Style... imperial porter, IIPA, and a Belgian strong thrown in for good measure. Chaulky notes really kill what could have been something extraordinary, but that being said, it was a nice twist on American brewing.

Pours thick, like motor oil in January. Opaque black with a thick tan head with medium legs. Nose of hops and chocolate. This thing look delicious just pouring....tastes of hops and choc but subdued by the body of malts and spices. A bit of alcohol on the taste but just a perfect amount. Smooth mouth and swallow with a wonderful, almost gooey thickness on the way down. This is a wonderful beer. It reminds me of the Collaboration. Will it cellar????

Bomber. The low ratings suprised me quite a bit with this one, I thought it was pretty tasty. The aroma is a little too subtle, but still quite nice. Flavor was very rich and sticky - ranging from chocolate to dried fruits to caramel to smoke to citrus to molasses to....... etc. With some warmth, the palate turned out to be even more enjoyable for me. Can you say an IPA/stout meets a Belgian quad meets an American Strong ale? - quite unique. Nice frothy head - loved the appearance, too. Not for the weak hearted as the alcohol did show through just a bit. Good job Avery, cheers on the your 14th!

22 oz bottle. Pours a ruby brown with a large fluffy off white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is chocolate malts, and oddly enough pesto and leather - pretty odd for a beer. Peppery nuts and smoke come out as it warms.

The flavor is sweet sugary malts and cola followed by some piney hops (with tinges of pesto - it’s stuck in my head now), a little banana and smoke, and a sharp medicinal plastic finish. The mouthfeel is medium and creamy.

Overall, an interesting and unique beer, it just doesn’t appeal to me.

strong ale...Well, I put this more in the impy stout catagory. a strange beer., black in appearence, tannish head, with some serious alcohol warmth. Tastes very chocalately, with some grapes, cherries.

A- Pours a very deep, dark brown hue with over 3-fingers’ of off white creamy head and big sticky lacing all over the glass S- Nose is full of sweet sweet aromas! Belgian candy and cotton candy dominates, dark fruits in there as well, these are nicely balance with caramel/toffee/chocolate malts, a little bit of spice and hops T- Another BIG, BOLD offering from Avery (surprise!), sweet malts dominate but are kept nicely in check with underlying bitter hops (not too cloying), dark fruit jumps up in the middle and finishes with a sweet alcohol presence M- Full-bodied ale that is thick and creamy, coats the tongue nicely, very pleasing carbonation D- Great offering from Avery that requires time and focus to truly enjoy, almost a ’sipping beer’ that I would not want to drink in higher quantities particularly since it is close to 10%abv

Deep brown in color with a tinge of red. Scents of plum, dark carmel, orange zest and citric hops. The palate shows the hops toward the finish. Nice density in the midpalate which showed nice richness leading toward the dry finish.

Bottle: Ruby amber in color with a two-finger tan head...sweet caramel, figs, raisins and dark malts rule the nose, no hop notes were present as I kinda expected. Very english barleywine-ish. Viscous, sticky body...again, sweet dark malts, bread dough and earthy esters are present in the flavor. This was quite good.
