Commercial Description:
For 14 wonderful years, we have been creating libations for ourselves in the hope that some others out there would share our eccentric palates and support us. Many thanks to all of you who do! Here is yet another quirky brew: a very dark and different, dry-hopped ale. Style? hard to say, you decide. Just expect massive molasses maltiness, limitless fruits on the nose and an imposing floral & zesty dry-hop finish. Peace to all and follow your dreams!
1.090 OG, 60 IBUs.

Pour is dark ruby brown with a dense thick light brown head....smell is very lightly fruity with pears, grapes, and grapefruit and hints of pine....taste is earthy and sweet at first with tobacco, prunes, raisins, dirt, and a little bit of grapefruit...finish is sweet at first turning bitter as the missing Avery hop character comes out....good...

Bottle. As the description says, a dubbel IPA. Malty like an Abbey dubbel and hoppy like an IPA. A nice beer. Pushes the limits of style interpretations.

Impressive, raisiny, root beer, chocolate cake, molasses, aroma, a real malt explosion, taste is sweet chocolates laced with dark fruit and anise,a hints of that root beer taste, faint but distinct hops in the aftertaste, thought body would be a hair thicker, with the 1.090 OG ,alcohol not that noticeable. Would classify this an old ale. Delicious

Dark brown, near black pour with a thick and volumnious tan head. Huge hoppy aroma but with underlying roasted malt, coffee and dark, dried fruit. Flavor is really remarkable. Warming alcohol is evident up front. Middle has more dark fruit, cherry, vanilla, oak, resinous citrus hops. Red wine towards the finish. Long, bitter with a light smack of hops. Only thing I’m not digging is the abv which is evident from the aroma to the finish. Besides that, this is a GREAT beer from Avery.

Bottle from River’s Bend. Poured clear dark brown color with a large fizzy brown head that lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate complex toasted sweet malt and spruce aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture. Heavy balanced bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of long duration. This is a standout beer.

Pours a dark tawny color, with a creamy tan head that lingers. Aroma is soft, warm, alcohol is a little bit noticeable, lots of caramel maltiness and some plum notes. First taste is smokey, salty and rich plum. Further taste has some peppery, molasses, citrus hops. Body is quite thick, very cloying, alcohol aftertaste with lots of that smoke and molasses. Super interesting, not a beer for the weak of heart, mind or tastebud. I dig it.

Pours a deep brown with tons of ruby red highlights and a medium creamy off white to light tan head and left nice lacing. Aroma of molasses, light toasted malts, mango, banana, citrus, some toffee, nuts, caramel, dark fruits and nuts. Flavor of molasses, earthy, pine, some citrus buried in there, nuts, toasted malts, dark fruits, roastiness, light alcohol. Congrats to Avery on 14 and thanks for keeping it interesting. Really did destroy style boundaries here yet still created a solid brew.

A brown ale with a dense beige head. Aroma is filled with sweet malt, some toasted notes and a nice hop presence. The flavour is complex and nice with loads of malt, sweet molases, wonderfully balanced hops of the amarican style. Like the bottle says, its hard to define the style but a very rewarding beer to drink!
