Aroma initally like red licorice or "good-n-plenty" which slowly developed into molasses, dark fruit (plum, prune, cherry), earth and piney hops. Flavor of dark roast coffee and molasses malts, with some dried black cherry, prune, raisin, wood, cocoa butter, earth and resin hops. Granted, an unseasonable choice for the hot weather--I’d be loving this way more in the winter. Complex and definitely quirky. RagallachMC (631), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 7, 2007 22oz bottle. Aroma: Bready maltiness, molasses, chocolate, anise, and a healthy dose of spice. Some light dark fruits, and a bit of spice/earth hops. Appearance: Dark brown in color with small ruby highlights. Medium beige head was huge and foamy with great retention. Great lacing. Flavor: Roasty maltiness with notes of coffee, chocolate, and toasted nuts. Molasses, caramel, and raisins. Lots of yeast spiciness and belgian yeast. Hops come in fairly strong with notes of citrus, grass, and earth. Medium-high bitterness was a little harsh. Some roast and hops carry over past the finish. Palate: Full bodied. Medium carbonation. Light alcohol warming in back of mouth. Overall: This was good, but seemed a little disjointed. The malts and hops seemed to be working against each other rather than with each other. Still, pretty tasty. Praetorian (86), Los Angeles, California, USA

The aroma is of hops, citrus and dark fruits (dates and plums.) The flavor is somewhat friuty with a strong overtone of hops and a hint of apricots; bitter throughout. Not quite my favorite, but overall is a very enjoyable beer vyvvy (2068), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 1, 2007 Pours very dark brown with a very dense tan head. The aroma is weird and unique - tropical fruits, hops, locker room, spice, coconut and dark malt. Medium / full body with quite a bit of sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with a fruity sweetness and tropical hops (simcoe?), light roasted malt and some Belgium earthiness. The finish has spice hops, pineapple, coconut, light citrus and lots of malt. A unique and interesting beer. I hope to find this again and possibly rerate with a new perspectives. Nuffield (2728), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 30, 2007 Big nose of hops, pine, mountain forest, plus a smoked element in the nose (perhaps a forest fire?!). Smooth but some carbonation. Orange in the finish, some rounder citrus edges. Clear brown, some percolation in the body. Typical Avery contribution. Ungstrup (15382), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 21, 2007 Bottled. A dark red beer with a thick brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of berries and spices. The flavor is sweet malt with primary notes of berries, but also a light touch of alcohol, leading to a dry bitter finish. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 1, 2007 Bottle. Dark brown-ruby body with a large frothy yellowish-white head and oily lace. The aroma has plenty of fruits - orange, pineapple, and some sweet bread. Oily palate with chewy hops and bitter oranges. Not overly bitter though and finishing with pineyness. Pretty good but I didn’t find it to have much complexity. TaktikMTL (2786), Montréal-Nord, Quebec, Canada
