Commercial Description:
For 14 wonderful years, we have been creating libations for ourselves in the hope that some others out there would share our eccentric palates and support us. Many thanks to all of you who do! Here is yet another quirky brew: a very dark and different, dry-hopped ale. Style? hard to say, you decide. Just expect massive molasses maltiness, limitless fruits on the nose and an imposing floral & zesty dry-hop finish. Peace to all and follow your dreams!

22 oz bomber. Aroma reminds me of walking into an old smoke shop with the aromas of candy, sweet pipe tobbacco, wooden floors. Dark body with red tynt to color with tan head and lacing covering the glass. Sweet candy with some spice to add some bite to flavor. Good fruity candy aftertaste on plate with an alcohol body warming. Good Brew.

Black, darkest ruby edges. Huge, dense, spongey tan head. Very nice looking pour. Aroma is spicy, tart, perfume, fresh almond/walnut, light dose of cotton candy, toasty malt, chocolate, dark fruits- great nose. Flavor has hints of smoke, spicy and lightly tart and airy yeast, the same nuts, rich chocolate/caramel, and spicy, floral, and subtly resinous hops in the finish. Aftertaste of past ripe citrus zest and airy yeast. Full/medium body, well carbonated yet soft. Solid.

The aroma was nicely hoppy with a grassy presence through the large bubbled tan head. As the head fell the aroma became grassy chocolate and a bit of roast with caramel. The aroma was spicy with hops as well and just a bit fruity. The beer poured into the glass crystal clear brown with an amber highlight. The head lasted very long to coat the glass. The flavor was nice with a strong dark chocolate and light roast flavor and a grassy hop bittering and flavor which was also a bit citrusy and spicy. Not quite resinous, but almost. Smooth chocolate and caramel coupled to the citrus made for a nice mid-flavor combination. The finish was ultimately dry with a light lasting grassy/citrus hop flavor into the aftertaste. The body was medium-full with a moderate level of carbonation. The only place that alcohol reared its ugly head was in the warming which occurred post consumption. I can did this beer! 22 ounce bottle.

Pours a dark brown, with some reddish maroon hues. Has a huge, thick, foamy well retained light tan head. Very nice looking. Smells lovely, a lot of cinnamon and nutmeg, spices, candy suagr, and molasses. The taste is much of the same but with a little tartness and hops. A little bit bitter finish, with good doses of cinnamon and nutmeg. Really flavorful on the palate, alot going on in this beer. Aftertaste has some vinous characters and finishes bitter and hoppy. Interesting and very good.

Bottle, RBESG Grand Tasting 07. Very dark copper, thin beige head. Nose is sweet hoppy/malt balance, packed with sweet alcoholic fruitness. Grapefruity, but alcohol kills it it a bit. Mouth is quite bitter malty roasted bite. Some dry hop grassiness. Rather nice.

From a 22 oz. bomber bottle, bottled in 2007, a blurb along the right side of label, sampled just above cellar temperature in a tulip glass. A nice looking dark brown Belgian ale appearance, a large creamy, tiny bubbly topped beige head, good retention, slowly dissipates into a thin sudsy lacing, small amount of laced sticking. A good smelling dark ale, flowery and minty herbal hops, citric fruitiness, earthy and spicy, sweet dark lightly roasted malts. The carbonation helps provide for a creamy smooth medium body, roasted dark malts, cocoa and coffee, spicy alcohol, warms the palate, the alcohol and the malts mesh together towards the end, spicy dark bread, coffee nutty, dark molasses, dates and raisins, dry leafy, herbal hops that progress to a citric, tangerine rind bitterness, peppery, hop oily, and a dry hoppy, coffee bitter finish. This is an easy sipper that take restraint from quaffing, tasty and balanced, just well done. This is easily now my favorite anniversary ale from Avery, I can’t wait for the fifteenth.
