Commercial Description:
This dangerously drinkable garnet beauty is a hop lover's delight. The intense dry-hop nose and the alcohol content are perfectly balanced for a caramel candy-like malt finish. This is a serious beer for serious beer afficionados and it only gets better with age. Cellarable for 3 years.

Hazy copper pour, nice retaining head. Dusty hops are there both to smell and taste. Grapefruit biting hop backbone gradually makes some room for caramel and sugary malt flavors. Seemed like a blend of barleywine and a double ipa really. Doesnt come together very gracefully but this still has a lot of good functioning elements.

A really good solid Barleywine, but a bit thin. Not a top notch barleywine, but certainly a darn good beer.

Auburn copper. Thick, sticky head with moderate retention. Grapefruit, bready malt in the nose. Big hops, a bit of grass and malt flavor. A full, viscous mouthfeel typical of style. Enjoyable but could use some tweaking, aging maybe?

Found this on sale at my local shop for a measily $4.50. Pours a dense brown, with a thin wispy head and med carbonation. Nose is very very sweet sugar with lot of Columbus coming through. Flavor starts off very sweet caramel malt, moves into a nice citrus middle and ends with a bit strong pine/grass hoppiness. The beer has a very dry and taste bud puckering ending to it. Overall a great barely wine for the price and size of the beer! Will definitely pick up a few more next time I am in town at this price.

Bottle from total wine. To be honest I am not a fan of hoppy barleywines for the most part. So I will rate this on the merits of the beer and not my personal preference. Brownish pour wtih a big light head. Aroma is very hoppy with some notes of caramel, toffee, and malts. Flavor is full of citrus hops, some pine hops, sweet malt and is carbonated well. A tad expensive, so I dont thing I will be drinking this very much.

Room temperature. Poors a red-gold dark brown color with a thick bubbly head. Aroma is intensely hoppy and somewhat sweet. Flavor is nice and hoppy. Well done with a slight roasted maltiness. No sense of the alcohol. Lingers on the palate nicely. A good beer without being great.

As expected seems to be a hybrid American DIPA/Barleywine combo style. Pours a slightly hazy amber-orange color producing a fluffy, thick white head. Foam fades out quite a bit leaving a thin coating of swirly islands with some spotty lacing. Nose shows off tons of citrus rind and piney hops with some caramel and toffee notes waffing in the background. Very IPA like in the aroma department here. Palate is full, slick and creamy with a fine carbonation fizz. Flavors are pretty well balanced between the malts and hops for a western US BW. The hoppy citrus and pine flavors do dominate, but there is a nice sweet malty contribution with tastes of melted caramels, toffee and roasted malts. A decent level of warming alcohol comes in at the finish to let you know you’re drinking a hefty brew. Good stuff, but considering the $7.49 price not a great value.
