Commercial Description:
This dangerously drinkable garnet beauty is a hop lover's delight. The intense dry-hop nose and the alcohol content are perfectly balanced for a caramel candy-like malt finish. This is a serious beer for serious beer afficionados and it only gets better with age. Cellarable for 3 years.

~Pours a nice clear amber with big creamy off white head. ~Scent is great! Big grassy grapefruity hops with quite a bit of sweet maltiness as well. Can smell this beer from a distance. ~Very hoppy taste but very quickly balanced with sweet malts. Hops overpower. ~Feel is a bit light. I think it would be better as a ticky thicker beer. Good points for the lasting bitter sweet finish. ~A very delicious beer that has a good amount of alcohol that isn’t tasted. Very well done.

2005 vintage keg @ papago... slightly hazy pour is dark woody amber colored and topped by a small creamy off white head. the aroma is really floral... mixed in with cereal graininess, light pine, grass, caramel and a touch of alcohol. nice malty sweetness level on the palate. the flavor is quite grainy but surprisingly still hoppy and floral... citrus, light pine and brown sugar round it out. it seems as if something is missing though... not yet having this fresh it is hard to say what (not sure if i want to as it is quite good with 3+ years on it!). body and mouth feel are average if not a little light...

[1444-20080531] Bottle. Hoppy orange grains aroma. Slightly hazy, dark amber brown body with a medium-lasting foamy tan head. Heavy grainy orange hops flavour has a bit of flower petals. Medium-full body. Quite nice, hidden booze.

Hazy copper orange body with a surprisingly sturdy beige head that deposits some sticky lace. Aroma of grapefruit, pine, and marmelade. Just about full bodied on the palate with some syrupy stickiness. Taste has notes of candied citrus, fresh grapefruit, pine, and orange pulp. Lots of bready maltiness. As it warms, the hops take over the show and balance out the malt sweetness. Very nicely done.

This Barley Wine had a nice tart taste to it. I tasted this beer at a beer convention but I do remember liking it enough that I went to the store and purchased a bottle.

orange pour, slight head but good lacing. Pure biscuit aroma - sweet malty as well. sweet and syrupy, Very well hidden alcohol, very drinkable. well hopped, not overly sticky like some b-wines. Not a style I usually enjoy, but this is quite good

pours a slightly hazy orange pour, smallish head but excellent lacing. Somewhat subtle aroma of hops, citrus, and biscuit. Flavor is very nice- not overly complex, but a nice sweetness and tang to it, really tasty. One of the smoothest 9+ percent alcohols i’ve ever had, good palate. Really nice barleywine.

Nice malty body. Smooth, carmally-biscuity taste. Very sweet and rich. This barley is particularly smooth and not as harsh as others I’ve had. The hops are there, and are quite bitter and bitey, but the beer is quite drinkable. One of my new favorite barley wines for sure.
