| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 27, 2008 bomber into wine glass (for lack of sniffer). Aroma is intense citrus (grapefruit) hops combined with an undertone of malty sweetness. Pours rich wooden amber color with red notes and a creamy head that holds and even laces a wine glass. The flavor starts with a grapefruity hop presence with a thick crystal malt finish that adds sweetness to the hoppy (so much so it is almost sour) finish. Heavy and oily on the palate. Overall: this is a big fresh beer worth trying; I feel that this could just as easily (or more so) be considered a DIPA instead of a Barley Wine. GMCC2181 (883), Bear/Elkton, Delaware, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 26, 2008 Bottle from Sparky27. Poured into a snifter, muddy amber color with a small head. Smells like sweet hops. Taste sweet malt and nice touch of hops in a barleywine. Heavier then medium texture along with a low carbonation. Easy to drink but not that smooth. Maybe because of the heavier texture. But over all a good beer to end my hectic memorial day work weekend. Thanks ERIC! joshwilfong (797), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
