uhre (299), Denmark Sep 17, 2008 The beer was not fresh, so not that much hops. Dark amber nice head. Aroma of hops and caramel. The flavor is hoppy although not as much as it has been. Lots of caramel too.
MrChopin (242), Pennsylvania, USA Nov 19, 2008 Thanks to jjpm79 for the bottle!
Opaque tan-amber with small yellow-ish head. Nose is nicely balanced with fresh citrus, sugar, tea-malt, and alcohol. Flavor is even better, so balanced with the fresh fruity hop, the malt, and the slight alcohol. Palate is a little salty, not so sticky though. Overall, supremely drinkable barley wine with a lot to offer. Kind of Old Horizontal-lite. Oink!
ansermadide (254), Kyle, Texas, USA Oct 31, 2008 (Bomber at home on October 31, 2008) Very light-colored for a barley wine... light orange-amber color, and carbonation... big bubbles! Medium to small off-white head. Very clear. Very nice appearance. Great, hoppy aroma, much like an imperial IPA. Very syrupy on the tongue - and you can tell it’s the alcohol as it sloshes around the toungue. Pretty hoppy, and a bit spicy on the tip of the tongue. Goes down easy, relatively thin. A conservative, yet hoppy barley wine. Something’s making me crave more hops... Hmmm... A+ rlcnmeyer (2), Lees Summit, Missouri, USA does not count Oct 31, 2008 Bomber. Not reallly what I consider a Barleywine, but absolutely delicious medium-bodied hoppy beer! I’m not sure what it should be classified as, but who cares...just sit back and enjoy! Sometimes beers don’t fit into neat classifications, which is a good thing in my book! Great job Adam! tarjei (1360), Bryne, Norway Oct 29, 2008 65 cl bottle at Skallerup Klit. Deep red brown color, nice beige head. Aroma is dark dried fruit, hops and a lot of sweetness. Flavor is dark dried fruit, spices, sweetness, malt and very nice hops. Perfumed finish. Very nice barley wine. Soonah (525), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Oct 28, 2008 Poured dark amber, or light ruby. The head was thick and off-white and produced nice lacing. The aroma was hoppy with pine and floral coming through strong along with thinner citrus, caramel, toffee and nuts. The flavor was pine and floral hops over citrus and toffee. Nice mouthfeel with a clean finish. I don’t know if this is a IIPA an ASA or a BW and I don’t really care. I like it. A lot. Good value for $5.
