tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 7, 2009 6 pack from total beverage in Westminster. Medium yellow, foamy white head. Nice hoppy aroma - more foaral than anything. Good taste - lots of malt for a thin to medium (yet carbonated) body, but lots of fora hops. A really easy drinking flavorful IPA with a surprising amount of malt. Good stuff. petematte46 (212), Dallas, Texas, USA May 6, 2009 piney/citrusy hop aroma was great. the hops were obviously what dominated the palate, but they werent so overpowering as to make this beer offensive.
carruthm (1109), Seattle, Washington, USA May 5, 2009 Really potent hops aroma and a very strong bitter taste. Smooth palate and a very intoxicating aroma. Well balanced. elihapa (1033), Honolulu, California, USA May 2, 2009 Bottle. Pours orange-gold with a sizable head. Aroma is soapy, hoppy, and floral. Didn’t catch much of the “lychee” that I originally detected trying this beer for the first time. Body is crisp, bitter from the onset, herbal and lightly fruity. Fruit present leans towards underripe tart/bitter orange. Pretty good, I found it quite thirst-quenching while eating some greasy fries! DerWeg (748), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 30, 2009 Updated: Jul 3, 2009Rating # 1000 of Avery IPA ya bitches! Cellar-cool bottle opens with promisong aromas of hops. Pours a sunny golden color with fine and fast-dropping head. Smells good, initial taste has a fruitiness that reminds me a little of Froot Loops. It’s overall very good though, it’s subtle and a little pale fruit-citrusy instead of hammering you with dry dry hops. Cooling the bottle a bit yields more balance. Great palate and interesting notes. Slightly above-par Great American IPA!! ** slight add comment ** next bottle at beerbistro was stellar - loving the big citrus Centellial hop aromas and tastes greenhorn1 (458), Mission Viejo, California, USA Apr 26, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours clear light orange color with minimal head but big lacing. Aroma is a bit funky, but the flavor does not dissapoint. Citrus, pine and grass notes dominate this IPA. Light mouthfeel, medium bitter lingerness and very refreshing. JFGrind (1346), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 23, 2009 Musty aroma of citrus, golden IPA with lacing some spice in the flavor. Could some Saaz hops have slipped into Avery IPA? Comaping my score with others., I’m not much of a fan of this IPA as other raters. GweedoeBrew (3), USA does not count Apr 23, 2009 I think that of the IPA’s that I have had, The Avery IPA has one of the best aromas. I consider this IPA one of the standards when I go out and buy a sixer of it.
