RedSox2004 (353), Pacific Palisades, California, USA Jan 11, 2009 Pours hazy gold/orange with a one-finger head that retained well and lev=ft nice intricate lacing. Subtle herbal and flowery scent with a touch of citrusy hops. Bitter hops flavors dominate the taste, mostly grapefruit and orange peel, with a solid caramel malt backbone to keep it in balance. Lively carbonation, medium mouthfeel, and a citrus and bready lingering aftertaste. Not as over the top with the hoppiness as I expected, but a very good beer. shanepardue (107), Raytown, Missouri, USA Jan 7, 2009 Extremely strong aroma compriised of floral, citrus hop smells. Delicious hoppy IPA with flavor that lingers. This ale is amazing! fidelis83 (707), Clinton, Iowa, USA Jan 6, 2009 Pours a clean medium gold/amber with a tall long lasting off white, yellowish head that leaves great lacing. Though I have had this stuff enough to know the head is pretty well hit or miss. Aroma is alot of bitter grapefruit and citrus hops, pineapple, honey drenched melon slices, and a really large amount of sweet fruity floral notes toward the end. Malt notes aren’t bad either but not as fantastic as the hops, a decent amount of caramel, toasted english muffins with butter and cane sugar, just a hint of biscuit. Flavor is sweet red grapefruit up front, with a splash of lime and orange zest, followed by enough caramel to make me happy, sourdough toast with marmalade and pickled ginge. Big orange blossom floral sweetness meets bitter hops and a bit of spice to the finish. MoDog (909), Griffith, Indiana, USA Dec 29, 2008 Poured from a 12oz bottle and served in a shaker. This IPA poured a golden amber with a light haze and a thin, lasting off-white head. Heavy, even rings of lace coated the glass. The aroma included pungent grapefruit, tropical fruits, a touch of white pepper, and small amount of caramel. The flavor consisted of grapefruit juice, spicy hops, and a trace of caramel malt. Quite bitter on the tongue, but still very drinkable. The mouthfeel was medium to full-bodied and had light carbonation. A well made, quaffable IPA. Not to shabby.
CanIHave4Beers (833), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Dec 28, 2008 Pours a clear light amber, plenty of head/lace. I like the aroma, remarkabally floral. This has a fairly nice balance in the flavor with a good malt backbone for the stong hop bitterness. I like the citrus on this, it is very well controlled by more pine and herbal bitterness. Beerman6686 (1266), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 20, 2008 This poured a cloudy orange color with an off white head. Aroma was of fresh pine trees and malts. Flavor was also nice and hoppy mainly pine with hints of citrus and grapefruit as well. Pretty good stuff. SuperDave70 (1157), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA Dec 13, 2008 Pours a slightly hazy deep gold color with a small but lasting head. Sweet caramel malt aroma up front, taken over by pine and citrus peel hops. Flavor is pretty evenly balanced, but goes to the pine hops on the finish. Nice lingering bitterness. Smooth on the palate for an IPA. Pretty good stuff. Skeets (23), Sacramento, California, USA Dec 12, 2008 Pours a hazy yellow/orange. No head. Aroma is balanced and not too hoppy with a little yeast mixed in. Flavor is a combination of a fresh citrus hop and subdued malt. Has a nice bitter finish and is very smooth. Solid IPA.
