Svesse (2597), Hässelby, Sweden Jul 31, 2008 (Bottle, Akkurat, Stockholm, 30 July 2008) Pale amber colour with huge, white head leaving lots of lacing. Malty, fruity nose with notes of grassy, citrussy hops and a distant hint of smoke. Fruity, malty taste with bready malt and a grassy, dry finish with distinct notes of citrussy hops. Notes of sweetness. Very nice balance. Very nice beer. otakuden (518), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Jul 31, 2008 Updated: Aug 3, 2008Blessed are we, the Hop drinkers, the Hop appreciators, the Hop aficionado, for they bring much flavor, breathe, and joy into our daily lives in the most enjoyable form possible: sweet delectable beer. And in the case of the beer I am currently holding in my hand, the Avery Brewing IPA.
A gorgeous bright golden orange with a lusciously soft and thick finger-sized head forms. Lingering for a good minute or so, I eventually lose her to a ring around the glass with a thin splotchy layer on top. I lift my glass and am immediately greeted by sweet, oily, grassy hops in my nose. I breathe deep - beautiful. I swirl my beer to release even more of the delicious hop aroma and watch as layers of lace and foam cling to my glass in viscous appreciation. I take a quaff. Smooth, thick, oily, and soft on the mouth feel. A plethora of grassy hop oils and flavors tickle my taste buds along with some bitter citrus rind, spice, and a wee bit of a sweet malt backbone. as my Avery IPA warms a bit since leaving the fridge and the bottle for my glass, the hops retain their crisp oily body and texture while the flavor profile blends into a smooth array of sweet grass, bitter lemon and citrus rind, and warm spice. Up until my last quaff, Avery IPA retains every bit of her character, never fading in the least.
A very well rounded IPA, reveling in hoppy oils and grassy esters. Another fine beer from Avery Brewing, their IPA can definitely stand up tall amidst the other quality denizens of the IPA world. Bungalo22 (326), Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA Jul 26, 2008 Pours a lightly burnt yellow into the pint glass I was using. It has a very nice and froathy head with good lacing as it goes down. The aroma is hops, hops and more hops. It is a hop taste but spiced nicely. It leave s a really smooth bitter taste on your palate. A very nice drink. daknole (2802), Plantation, Florida, USA Jul 26, 2008 Had at The Pub in Pembroke Pines, FL. Purs a nice gold color, no real head. Aroma is citrus, hops, floral.
