NDbeerdrinker (164), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Jul 14, 2008 Pours a yellow-orange with a decent white white head that dissipates quickly. Nice aroma, hops maybe a little piney. Taste is a good example of the style. Good balance and a very nice beer. Slipstream (734), USA Jul 14, 2008 Nice label with an old map on it. Clear honey pour with modest head. Strong, first-rate scent of honey-like malts and hops. Well-rounded and balanced IPA flavor - solid malts, tasty hops, some orange in there, maybe even a dash of spices too. Medium-light carbonation. This is a super IPA, and another winner from Avery. beerheart (237), Erie, Colorado, USA Jul 8, 2008 In the summer, I’m drinking IPA. I was privileged to enjoy this on tap last weekend at Avery’s inaugural "4K on the 4th" run. I don’t know if it truly is Colorado’s hoppiest IPA, but it is one of the best. While Avery’s own Maharaja is better, this IPA, a more traditional IPA than that one, is a great classic exmaple of the style. Light amber pour. Citrus, floral, pine, and bread aromas. The hops hit hard, but as with most good IPA’s they are balanced by the right malts and the finish is clean. RCL (1443), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA Jul 7, 2008 Fairly tight aroma, just a little bit of citrus. Well done basic piney cereal flavor. Solid IPA. badbeer (432), Iowa, USA Jul 5, 2008 Pale golden color, but with a creamy white head leaving a pretty good lacing. Hints of caramel and pine sap in the smell, perhaps a bit of lemon and grapefruit. Nice piney hoppiness to this, with a solid malt base to boot. Finish is a little light, but still nice and hoppy. Average carbonation with a nice full body. Pretty solid beer here, worth trying for sure. 12many (231), Ohio, USA Jul 5, 2008 Tap. The bartender served this to me in a plastic cup which led to a minimal tip, but the beer wasn’t completely ruined. Colored a little lighter than average with a medium head. Pine and resin hops in the nose with a clean mouthfeel and a bitter finish. Definitely not mindblowing but good none the less. gsmitty80 (628), Washington DC, USA Jul 2, 2008 I wasn’t overly impressed by this IPA like I thought i was going to be. The beer was very bitter and the hops did not have a flowery taste they were more acidic and it wasn’t that enjoyable. soyorganic (217), Denver, Colorado, USA Jul 1, 2008 Updated: Oct 5, 2008This is my favorite IPA. On tap: light copper color with piney hop aroma. Heavy carbonation but the balance and taste of hops is the best. The hop flavor is smooth but at the same time sharp while it lingers with goodness. The flavor consists of pine and citrus notes. For some reason I prefer IPAs to be light in color like this one. Nice looking beer and because the carbonation is very noticeable before drinking, based on appearance you can tell it is quality.
