Commercial Description:
In the 1700's one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Barnyard pine and citrus highlight the aroma. Subtles hops on the palate and a musty slight thinning funkiness. Quiet medicinal/chemical fruitiness. not bad

nice copper-yellow pour with medium white head leads to a nicely bittered ipa with a clean malty taste. A really nice beer that doesn’t hit you over the head with it’s hops, a rarity in today’s American market.

orangish golden with nice white head. a very nicely balanced IPA, with a strong malt component mostly of pale malt and a hop flavor with a solid amount of hop flavor and only mild bitterness. the flavor isn’t overwelming, neither is the alcohol, but it is a well balanced and very good version of the style

By now I’ve had 6 of these in my lifetime, so now’s the time to put in the rating... the appearance was a very golden-yellow/slightly amber color with a thick, white, bubbly head that faded away and left behind a sticky conglomeration of bubbles on the surface. The aroma was very grapefruity, with some tropical fruits thrown in there, a bit of pineapple and papaya... but also loads of sweet toasty malts. The flavors are fairly standard for the style, a very well-balanced mixture of bitter/citrusy hops and sweet toasty, bready malts. A nice medium-bodied mouthfeel with a clean finish, though not as astringent as some. A pretty good one for me, as I don’t like IPAs that are ridiculously hoppy. Hopheads may find this to be average...

Pours a light copper/quasi-gold color with a white, fluffy, head. Smells of rose and citrus, nice balance b/w hops and malts, has just enough of a bitter edge, crisp and light bodied. Pretty good beer.

resin, woody, amber, very bitter, light sweetness, bitter, medium body. overall emphasis is definitely on the hops in this one, leaving some maltiness to be desired.

Pours a clear medium gold with a hint of amber, started to foam after I popped the cap, has a good amount of effervescence with a nice white creamy head, left nice creamy lacing on the glass, aroma of citrus, pine needles, some flowers, malt and sweet bread fragrance, faint fruit fragrance, has sweet malt and caramel flavors that are whooshed away by the hops, has a good bitterness at the finish and the hops linger for a bit on the palate, good mouth feel with even carbonation, a very nice balance of malt and hops, I liked this IPA and recommend it.

a little light colored for an ipa, more yellow than a dark amber or orange. Typical american hops aroma, lots of grapefruit, and citrus, with some pine. A nice amount of malt to balance in the flavour. A good IPA.
