Commercial Description:
In the 1700's one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Decent brew. Average overall, nothing really stands out to me. Aroma is sugary sweet, smooth flavor of pine and citrus. Slightly bitter aftertaste. Very drinkable.

Golden colored with perhaps a hint of orange in there with a nice foamy head. Nice pine needle, citrus hop aroma. Bitter piney hop flavor with a touch of light malt that balances it nicely. Flavor seemed rather tame and easy drinking for the style. Perhaps because it lacks a powerful citrus, grapefruit hoppy flavor often associated with IPA’s. This is bitter and hoppy but smooth and actually pretty refreshing. This a solid IPA I’ll have no problem going back to. In a taste test, not quite as good as the Clipper City Loose Cannon IPA.

nothing real special. kind of a lot closer to a pale than an ipa, imho. not bad flavor and palate. aroma is lacking...

Pretty decent IPA, distinctly Avery. Paler side of gold, decent head. Not particularly aggressive for an IPA, though definitely a sessionable IPA. Nice.

bottle from BeerGestapo. thanks Mike. pours a light copper with a good sized white head. sweet smelling nose with a hint of citrus. flavor is pretty balanced, sweet malt base and a lightly bitter citrus finish. if this beer were just called a pale ale it would be pretty good for the style, but as an IPA it fails miserably. that being said I’m not a huge fan of IPAs so I found the beer to fairly drinkable.

(USA) The color is golden yellow with a med-white head. There is a strong Hoppy / Citrus aroma here, And the taste is of pine needles !! The finish is kinda dry but not very bitter as i would expect.

12oz brown bottle with no date poured into nonic. Hazed dull yellow with a frothy white head that leaves a nice lacing on the glass. Overall a subdued nose on this beer. The hops are foremost with a yellow grapefruit backdrop. Smells clean with maybe a hint of pine. Hops hit the palate first and stay the longest. A nicely balanced IPA that delivers a good dose of hops that coat, perhaps these are the hop oils I hear about. Not much in the form of malt. A lighter bodied IPA with heavier carbonation. Nice and crisp. A thirst quencher. Good for a handful but not quite session worthy with its ABV.
