BeerGestapo (725), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 3, 2008 Updated: Apr 5, 2008(USA) The color is golden yellow with a med-white head. There is a strong Hoppy / Citrus aroma here, And the taste is of pine needles !! The finish is kinda dry but not very bitter as i would expect. FleeVT (40), Boca Raton, Florida, USA Mar 28, 2008 12oz brown bottle with no date poured into nonic.
Hazed dull yellow with a frothy white head that leaves a nice lacing on the glass.
Overall a subdued nose on this beer. The hops are foremost with a yellow grapefruit backdrop. Smells clean with maybe a hint of pine.
Hops hit the palate first and stay the longest. A nicely balanced IPA that delivers a good dose of hops that coat, perhaps these are the hop oils I hear about. Not much in the form of malt.
A lighter bodied IPA with heavier carbonation. Nice and crisp.
A thirst quencher. Good for a handful but not quite session worthy with its ABV. Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Mar 25, 2008 Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a few floaters. I poured it gentle so as to avoid most of the floaters, so the head is minimal. Nose is malt and wet grain. Maybe I have an older bottle and the hops have died down, but this is a really mild IPA hops wise. Slight lingering bitter aftertaste. Decent mouth feel. I’ll give it another try down the road and rerate if needed. BMan1113VR (2757), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Mar 25, 2008 Pours with a white, frothy head covereing a clear gold body. Ultra floral, hoppy aroma with a decent amout of yeast in the aroma. Taste isn’t too bitter, but not too much taste. It is actually a bit watery for 6%. Hank1980 (734), Athens, Georgia, USA Mar 24, 2008 Updated: Oct 24, 2009Pours hazy copper with a decent white head. Aroma of citrus. Taste is very hoppy with some malt base and light spice. Pine and citrus hops present here. Finish is not too bitter; very mild for an IPA. Overall, a middle of the pack IPA. **** Fresh dry-hopped cask at Trappeze. Probably the best IPA or pale ale cask I’ve ever had. Really big fruit notes in the aroma and flavor. Really nice. I’ll average the 4.4 I’d give the cask with my bottle rating. yespr (11645), Copenhagen O, Denmark Mar 24, 2008 12 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy orange with a lacing off-white head. Aroma is mild citrusy and peachy. Sweet and hops fruity flavour. Slight subdued caramel malt base. Gains a light pine and mild liqourice-like flavour before the finish. Dry and almost woody finish with a decent bitterness. milljam (562), Norman, Oklahoma, USA Mar 23, 2008 I was not that impressed with this beer....I expected better from Avery. Hop and malt presence was not very noticable and seemed muddled in the flavor; sour aftertaste present after about half the beer. Certainly not a good representation of an IPA. kidmartinek (972), austin, Texas, USA Mar 22, 2008 Updated: Dec 8, 2008An average IPA. Pours, pale, translucent copper, small head, crappy lacing, smells like weak hops. Pour it all over yourself after you’re drunk. Smells like mild hops, tastes the same. An even keel running IPA. If you need to run on an even keel, and IPAs are youre thing, then, drink this Avery.
Cask version runs the same.
