Commercial Description:
In the 1700's one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

12 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy orange with a lacing off-white head. Aroma is mild citrusy and peachy. Sweet and hops fruity flavour. Slight subdued caramel malt base. Gains a light pine and mild liqourice-like flavour before the finish. Dry and almost woody finish with a decent bitterness.

I was not that impressed with this beer....I expected better from Avery. Hop and malt presence was not very noticable and seemed muddled in the flavor; sour aftertaste present after about half the beer. Certainly not a good representation of an IPA.

An average IPA. Pours, pale, translucent copper, small head, crappy lacing, smells like weak hops. Pour it all over yourself after you’re drunk. Smells like mild hops, tastes the same. An even keel running IPA. If you need to run on an even keel, and IPAs are youre thing, then, drink this Avery. Cask version runs the same.

12 oz bottle purchased from Central Market in Dallas, TX. Poured into a tulip glass. Appearance: Golden orange with a small white creamy head and a small amount of carbonation. Aroma: A nice hoppy aroma with a caramel malt. The hops smell of orange. Taste: Nice pine flavored hops initially hit the palate and linger a bit. A nice caramel taste with a bit of citrus and apricots. A bit of a thin mouthfeel Overall: Very easy to drink IPA.

Amber with a huge head. Hoppy aroma of grape and orange. The same notes are found in the flavours with lemon and a bit of caramel. It is one way bitter and lacks some counterpart from the malts. Not bad though.

Pours a mild gold color, a finger of off-white head and very respectable lacing. Hoppy pine aroma and really well balanced bitter grapefruit flavor. Palate is smooth but with a little bit of heavier syrup feel to it. Pretty remarkably sweet finish compared to the bitters up-front. There is a mild soapy after taste. Best IPA I’ve had for a while in my random beer quest....

Single from the local shop, with the price of hops going up it appears IPA’s may become more of a treat than a good ol’ stand-by. Rich evergreen aroma, lots of pine and a touch of floral scents. Clear golden-copper color with a thin head and mild lacing. A steady, lazy carbonation is present. Rich and aggressive, the sticky hops cling to the mouth and a pleasant, thick bitterness remains. Good flavor, typical of this great style. Hearty malt with some light caramel and nutty flavors that are overtaken by a strong evergreen and citrus content. Fine IPA in all regards, although I prefer a little more grapefruit and citrus.
