Goodgrief (1144), Middletown, Delaware, USA Feb 18, 2008 Mar. 2007 - Apart from the huge head which lasted the whole beer and the amazing lacing, this was a pretty unremarkable brew. Ugly dirty yellow color, an off skunky funky smell, which went away after a while and yielded to a typical grapefruit odor. Flavor was strong citrusy grapefruit, some sweet malts and a slight grassyness at the end that was not altogether pleasant. Not overly bitter (not hopwater), but nothing else really of note to comment about. jlf278 (250), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Feb 17, 2008 A real nice india pale ale with character. it pours with a little foam but quickly thins. Some lacing, good color. Aroma is strong and very sweet, floral and pine, yum! Palate is just a bit rough with perfect carbonation. THe flavor was a good contrast of sweet and bitter, but the bitter was too dirty and hit too hard in the back of the middle of the tongue. Overall, shows high quality but not for me. emerica56 (575), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Feb 17, 2008 After i dumped it into an IPA glass it foamed up and thined out just as quick, but it did maintain an thin head. There was also some minor laceing left along the sides of the glass. The aroma was strong and hoppy aroma with some hints of caramel malt. As i took a sip the flavor was very bitter and the finish was exactly the same. Bitter hops and a full bodied beer that is fresh and ready to be drank when ever possible. brianprentiss (473), Portland, Oregon, USA Feb 15, 2008 really great beer that has a fantastic smell. it looks a little strawy but it tastes wonderful. JaffaHawk23 (38), Broomfield(via Iowa City), Colorado, USA Feb 15, 2008 Bought a six-pack directly from the tasting room of the brewery in Boulder. There were a couple of the workers who had finished for the day(it was 2pm), were playing beer pong in the front of the store, were rather buzzed and in a very hospitable mood. They gave me a nice description of some of the available beers and let me sample some of the specials on tap. A nice afternoon indeed. Needless to say I like this beer very much as I do love my hops. I usually like a darker beer but the color here is very nice and golden. As others have said, very grassy and citrusy that is amped by the hops and finishes with a little malt. Tasty, especially when as fresh as this sixer was. Petrucci914 (574), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Feb 15, 2008 Pours a shimmering golden color with a medium frothy head with some bubbly lacing. Aroma is rather potent; grassy, grapefruit, and bitter. Taste is a bit citrus up front with some lingering bitterness that is calmed down from the malts. Strykzone (1458), Wood River, Illinois, USA Feb 15, 2008 Pours a golden color with a nice uneven white foamy head. Aroma is tart hop but not the grapefruit variety. It is a nice feature of the beer and is floral and refreshing. Flavor is more bitter than tart and has a nice amount of malt. There is pine and some sour apple. This is as good an IPA as I have sampled. Very well done, Avery! spikester (602), Salem, Oregon, USA Feb 14, 2008 Pours light amber with a significant head and some lacings. Big citrus hop hit somewhat offset by sweet malt. I like the Deschutes version a bit more but this is a memorable pour. Nice bitter pine needle finish. Well recommended.
