Commercial Description:
In the 1700's one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

pour is of a golden amber color with light head on it. The aroma is hoppy, wiht slight sents of grapefruit, and caramel. the taste is bitter of hops. This finishes nicely for my tasting.

Lemony and floral with scads of bittering hops, Avery’s IPA entry is more along the lines of an English IPA than American, though certainly with more bittering hops than an Englishman might apply. The hops are earthy and hit the back of the tongue incessantly.; malt character is subdued. The beer pours a nice light amber and the rocky white head leaves a thick sloppy lacing. The malt character becomes more prounouced towards the middle of the glass but the hops are long and forefront in the finish. This one won a gold medal at the ABF but I don’t see it. Its a good, but not great, IPA.

tropical mango citrus aroma, clear gold. fruity character remains with a light dry bitter finish. dont get me wrong, i like it as an apa, but too tame for an ipa

Grapefruit hops & a hint of pine. Palate is a bit thin, but not too bad. Finishes quite dry. A hint of dusty malt in the taste, but nothing much.

The aroma is a nice piney hops that follow through on the flavor. Pretty solid beer.

Pours a very light, almost yellow amber. Very thin white head. Aroma isn’t my favorite - a musty, piny note dominates. The flavor is a bit better with a clean pine hoppiness coming through, still a bit of staleness in the finish however. Pretty average brew - drinkable, but wouldn’t go out of my way to find it.

tap @ papago. a crystal clear copper beer topped with a fluffy whitish head which leaves nice light lace work. grapefruit and orange aromas dominate over caramel, toasted grain, and light pine. flavor is nicely hopped w/o overkilling my palate... wood, citrus rind and a savory element which keeps it from being too sweet. grassy dry finish. nice texture and smooth mouth feel. 7/3/7/4/16/3.7

on tap this is the beez neez. perfectly balanced for sessioning yet crisp and refreshing enough to satisfy with just one. gotta respect a beer that can do that! 8/3/8/4/17/4
