Commercial Description:
In the 1700's one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

THOUGHTS: Intense aroma. Overall a little one sided for me. It’s almost all hops. Could use a little malt to balance things out. It reminded me of Hop Wallop.I was starting to like IPA but this is a fine example of why I didn’t like IPAs in the first place and why I prefer Double IPAs. Gets slightly better when warmer. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a flat, light orange (looked a little unnatural) with a small, white head that mostly diminished. The aroma was heavy to harsh resin and citrus ( grapefruit and orange) hops. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and moderately bitter, while th finish was heavily to harshly bitter with a long duration. The flavor was all resin and citrus hops. The light to medium body was dry but slightly syrupy with rather fizzy carbonation and a very metallic finish.

I agree with most reviews. Good pale ale, nothing great, but easily above average.

Very astringent. It tastes to me like it used only a single type of hops and malts. There just isn’t very much flavor balance here. Super dry and not very refreshing

Somewhat on par with other decent Ipas. Better than the bad ones, not as good as the exceptional ones.

Picked this 12oz bottle up from Case & Keg in Florida while visiting family. Nice color upon pour-an orangey pale amber with a nice foamy head that left lacing throughout the pour and drink. Nice aroma with some bitterness to it-maybe raisins or grapefruit? Does not taste like a simple IPA to me instead it has some strong fruit tones-particularly the grapefruit that carried through the scents from the pour. There is a dryness to the finish, but it is full of flavor and fairly easy going down. I dont particularly enjoy the bitterness from this one and instead prefer a more simple IPA, but I do think that it is an interesting brew.

very light color, good head and lacing... very hoppy as expected. Recommended to me from Bruisin’ Ales in Asheville... good call on this one. I love IPAs and this one just about has it right. Not much malt to it that you can tell over the hops. For a hop heavy beer, you could do worse than this one... and it would be hard to do a lot better...

Pour is a orange with a small white head. Aroma is a nice dry hop with not much else coming though but that is a good thing. Flavor is super hoppy and bitter with some malts coming through. A very nice example of the style.
