Commercial Description:
In the 1700's one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Can you go wrong with an IPA? Flowery bouquet typical of IPA’s was amazing. Bitter aftertaste also amazing. A good one for sure.

On tap at Map Room, Chicago. The one distiguishing feature of this IPA is a musty flavor-- almost like a farmhouse ale. I don’t know if it’s the hops, yeast, or malt that is giving the flavor, but it had an earthy, musty flavor. It was an above average IPA, but I would not order again since this bar also has Alpha King on tap.

pours a clear light orange with a very sparse white head. Aroma is light, sweet, grassy, citrus, woody. Flavor is of light hops, pleasant bitterness, grapefruit, earth. not sweet or sour at all. Tingly with a dry finish.

12 oz bottle. hue is light for the style. there’s no copper tone here, just unpolished, dirty gold/straw-like color. avg head, nothing over-the-top or too notable. aromas are coated with hops, i’m guessing centennial, not potent enough to be warrior. aromas also of apricots, dry hops, baked orange peel, and airy peppers. the taste reveals that it’s nothing to brag about. i’m getting more of a dry apricot taste with a lot of toast. it’s just not picking up for me. it’s a very smooth taste, the hops aren’t too bitter, though the mild bitterness does linger on the palate for quite a while. it’s a little one-dimensional in my opinion.
