robertjm (399), El Cerrito, California, USA Sep 5, 2007 Avery is FINALLY available in the San Francisco Bay Area!!!! This beer is absolutely crystal clear. Has the color of a fine orange muscat wine rather than a beer. Very lacy head that falls pretty quickly, but leaves lots on the glass sides. Microfine carbonation that you can taste rather than simply see. Nice hop aroma. Not overpowering like some IPAs are these days. It says, "Yes, there are hops in there." Flavor is also hoppy, but not overpowering. I’m guessing Centennials or Cascades and perhaps something else to even it out. They say its the hoppiest in Colorado. Perhaps by IBU count, but its smooth. Bitterness resides on the palate in the aftertaste. I actually think I’d prefer to drink this over Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (my father is rolling in his grave right now!!). natedoggkc (164), Lenexa, Kansas, USA Sep 3, 2007 Purchased at Gomer’s of Kansas. Pours a copper color with a white head. A nice strong hop aroma, grapefruit, and some floral aroma as well. Tasting some grapefruit around the hops but not too much. Finishes crisp with hops and is a great IPA. HopheadHans (753), Bay Area, California, USA Sep 3, 2007 Bottle. One of my favorite IPAs. It is hoppy but not quite to the extent of a West Coast hop bomb. It is more agressive than a MidWestern IPA. Great aromas of hops, flowers and citrus, flavors of pine, citrus, esters and of course flowery hops. Nice bittersweet finish. nightrider (370), encinitas, California, USA Sep 1, 2007 On tap at Stone. Clear golden hues with a moderate white head. Nice citrus grapefruit aromas.Easy on the palate. Clean hop bitterness with very good flavor retention. Very subtle maltiness and driness. Nice IPA with straight ahead hops and not alot of complexity. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Updated: Mar 8, 2009

pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA Aug 25, 2007 On tap. Sweet, caramel smell. Not the normal overly hoppy smell that I expected. Perfect amber color with great lacing. Lots of sweet maltiness for an IPA. One of my favorite IPAs - smooth and not overly bitter (good for a newbie like myself). A GREAT BALANCE of malt and hops. It interacts in the mouth perfectly. Perfect amount of water to not overwhelm the palate with bitterness. I really enjoyed the smooth sweetness with the perfect hoppy finish. No intense drying effect like most IPAs I’ve tried. Progression is great. I can’t wait to have this again. Buddahchild (28), Littleton, Colorado, USA Aug 25, 2007 smooth, crisp and clean. Has a great finish. The fresher you can get it the better. Nihon (239), Vernon, Connecticut, USA Aug 19, 2007 Updated: Aug 25, 2007100th?! Very fragrant floral hoppy aroma, nice. Average amber color. Flavor, very hoppy/piney with a nice medium/heavy body. Will be buying this again, must have for hop heads!!
