Commercial Description:
In the 1700's one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

On tap. Sweet, caramel smell. Not the normal overly hoppy smell that I expected. Perfect amber color with great lacing. Lots of sweet maltiness for an IPA. One of my favorite IPAs - smooth and not overly bitter (good for a newbie like myself). A GREAT BALANCE of malt and hops. It interacts in the mouth perfectly. Perfect amount of water to not overwhelm the palate with bitterness. I really enjoyed the smooth sweetness with the perfect hoppy finish. No intense drying effect like most IPAs I’ve tried. Progression is great. I can’t wait to have this again.

smooth, crisp and clean. Has a great finish. The fresher you can get it the better.

Pours a lovely, clear, deep gold with a thick white head that leaves immense patches of lace on the glass. The aroma is a pleasant balance of sweetness and perfumey hops. There are citrus notes, flowery -almost minty- notes, and some hints of caramel and light honey. The flavor continues this appealing balance: a dose of flowery, bitter, spicy hops with just a touch of citrus combines elegantly with the flavors of cane sugar, light crystal barley malts, and a hints of fruit and toffee. The sweet malts are firm through to the middle of the tongue. The back of the tongue picks up a distinct hoppy bitterness. The beer finishes dry, is well carbonated to deliver a creamy mouthfeel, and is surprisingly light in body considering how much flavor it packs. Overall, an excellently-made IPA.

Nice fragrant hops from an amber pour with little head. Good malty, caramel backing matched very well with hops flavor and light lingering bitterness. An above average IPA for sure

Bottle from City Beer Store. Pours a medium orange that looks like it’s trying to be cloudy but doesn’t quite get there. Loads of pine hops in the nose with a hint of floral, taste is similar with very chewy finish. Decent.
