Clear and with a thick tight head. Typical US ale bitterness, which is an unsophisticated charicature of the UK IPA style, but done to the extreme. If you can ignore the intrusive hoppiness, there is some maltiness too, but you’ll never shake noticing the sweet grapefruity bitterness. Drink4Satan (585), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA May 13, 2007 Pours a crappy clear yellow-gold with a small off-white head that laces surprisingly well. The aroma is of fruity and floral hops, and thats it. The flavour hoppy with a piney bite that sticks to the sides of the tongue. The finish is long, bitter and biscuity. This is nice, well-balanced, and very hoppy IPA that can stand tall among other great IPA’s. kreepindeth (405), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA May 13, 2007 Perhaps I got a bad bottle. Aroma of sweat, deodorant, and grass. Odd bouquet. Body is fizzy with some subtely maltiness. Dry, crisp finish. The aroma really ruined this one for me. jrob21 (1250), Atlanta, Georgia, USA May 12, 2007 This was a pleasant surprise. Big floral and fruity aromas. I think there is a hop that this totally reminds me of. It may be simcoe but I need to find out for sure. Very fruity, piney, and pungent aromas and flavors. Very similar to Sweetwater’s IPA. Pours a great golden color, so much that you wouldn’t think this was an IPA. fattibobatti (246), Tallahassee, Florida, USA May 8, 2007 One of my favorite IPAs. very strong hops, citrus, floral and more. long lasting after taste. found it on draft in palm beach at the yardhouse. Touche (57), New York, USA May 6, 2007 Picked up a six last night. Poured a thick head, about an inch thick. Smells of hops with hints of some fruit going on. First sip was a smooth with a bitter finish. Each sip was more and more pleasant, could certainly taste the citrus. Overall I enjoyed this and would recommend it to other fellow hop-heads! gws57 (1131), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA May 2, 2007 Found this one bottled in Sycamore, Illinois. Another great brew from Avery. Somewhat cloudy, dark orange pour with a foamy, off-white head. Complex nose, some grains but mostly floral. Citrus in the taste, some orange and lemon, along with the standard bitterness from hops, roses and raisins. Complex finish. This was a keeper. StompBrockmore (300), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 1, 2007 12oz. bottle - pours with a nice and foamy white head on top of a pale, clear yellow/gold body. Aroma is very hoppy, primarily with grapefruit and other citric notes. Flavour makes this a very well balanced but hop forward, offering no surprises from what is found in the aroma but does everything very well. Why should I be surprised anyway, when the beer is this solid all the way through. Finish is perfectly bitter to remain sessionable and thirst quenching, and the earthier hop notes come forward. Hugely drinkable. Great.
