gws57 (1131), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA May 2, 2007 Found this one bottled in Sycamore, Illinois. Another great brew from Avery. Somewhat cloudy, dark orange pour with a foamy, off-white head. Complex nose, some grains but mostly floral. Citrus in the taste, some orange and lemon, along with the standard bitterness from hops, roses and raisins. Complex finish. This was a keeper. StompBrockmore (300), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 1, 2007 12oz. bottle - pours with a nice and foamy white head on top of a pale, clear yellow/gold body. Aroma is very hoppy, primarily with grapefruit and other citric notes. Flavour makes this a very well balanced but hop forward, offering no surprises from what is found in the aroma but does everything very well. Why should I be surprised anyway, when the beer is this solid all the way through. Finish is perfectly bitter to remain sessionable and thirst quenching, and the earthier hop notes come forward. Hugely drinkable. Great. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA May 1, 2007 Poured a clear light copper color with a thick white head. Hop aroma more earthy and grassy, as opposed to real sharp citrusy aromas. Taste is dry with a decent hop finish and no realt malt character. A decent IPA. JFURYCAT (782), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 30, 2007 Bottle that’s heavy on the citrus cascade grapefruit orange end with a frothy head and some dryness in the aftertaste. It could use some more hops but is a drinkable beer. slimchill (773), Austin, Texas, USA Apr 30, 2007 Updated: Dec 12, 2007Bottle. Slightly cloudy pale orange with a patchy but interestingly patterned head, a ring around the outside of the glass that drops down behind the beer. Syrupy-sweet hop aroma that translates into a clean bitter flavor, well balanced with an emphasis on a citrus-rind dryness. Smooths out at the end and is quite satisfying. RedHaze (370), Where the hell am I?, Nebraska, USA Apr 29, 2007 ours a very clear bright golden color, with a thick fluffy white head that fades slowly to a solid cap. The lacing is very sticky, and nearly covers the entire inside of my glass.
Smell; pine resin and citric hops are the main players in the aroma, but there’s also an underlying sweetness, as well as a bit of floral/herbal aroma.
Taste; it’s almost harshly bitter on the first couple of sips, but once you get passed that it becomes very nice. The flora/herbal hops are more pronounced in the flavor than they were in the aroma, and almost give this a bit of a spiciness. The pine and citrus are also present, along with a mild caramel sweetness in the background.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a mild carbonation, and the drinkability is just great. My glass is almost empty, and I feel like I just barely started drinking it. I’m glad I can now get this in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Mrthirstyneck (341), Minnesota, USA Apr 28, 2007 not impressed bad six pack? dunno. minimal hops for an ipa almost skunky tasting lacking any real kick or piney citrus flavor at all. weak.. sad cause these guys m,ake sum great beer! LinusStick (1831), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 26, 2007 A light and delicious pale ale. Aroma of floral hops. Pour was a dark gold with no head. Taste was all floral hops with a hint of malt in the background.
