VeloVampire (483), Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 17, 2007 12 oz bottle - deep gold hue with a thick and fluffy two-finger head. Big pine, citrus aromas, along with some cereals. Wonderfully refreshing, with a honey-sweet malt backbone that firmly anchors all those glorious, glorious hops. Mildly bitter at the back of the palate, and very refreshing. Saveur: Goût d’ananas et de pamplemousse. Durée moyenne de l’arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture crémeuse. Moyenne effervescence en bouche. Présence d’amertume en arrière goût. (Rating #966) jarspag (593), Los Angeles, California, USA Apr 16, 2007 Average to solid american IPA - wasn’t blown away and wasn’t turned away. A nice staple type beer. but I’d prefer the maharaja just about any day ---- best part I think is the label, I think it’s cool, no? hopson (591), Williamsville, New York, USA Apr 16, 2007 Updated: Mar 17, 2008Disappointing considering the great beers coming from Avery...White head that is way overboard, and never goes away. It will take five minutes just to pour the beer. Aroma way too faint, and flavor far too citrusy/sweet. Just kind of strange when you compare it to west coast ipas...Maybe that is the point. re- rate- draft- this gets bumped up a few points as piney/bitter notes came through, and made this a go-to for the night. DirtyMartini (194), Los Angeles, Alabama, USA Apr 15, 2007 draft @ PP solana - decided to try this next to the PP swamis and yigas...probably one of the nicer pouring IPAs ive ever seen. big thick fluffy white head that never goes away. great lacing. much lighter in flavor than most american IPAs...tastes much more like a british IPA, just using PNW hops. sweeter with a milder hop finish. jason (1620), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 12, 2007 Bottle. Pours a pale orange body with big soapy white head. Aroma is of slight hops and a sugar like feel (cereal?), grainy. Taste is slightly bitter with a light mouthfeel. A little off in flavor with a small citrus essence. Decent. DrHomolka (726), Columbus, Ohio, USA Apr 11, 2007 12oz bottle. Pours golden with a foamy white head. Aroma is slight hops and very biscuity and yeasty. It smells like turkey. What the hell. Wow that is nuts. Anyways, the taste is smooth, subtle, citrusy hops. Pretty mild for an IPA. A decent every day IPA I suppose but there’s much better out there. mhelgason (495), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Apr 10, 2007 Bottle. Creamy, average, white (mostly lasting) head into clear medium amber colored body. Good lacing. Light grapefuit and also some molasses (typical aromas for IPA;s). Some spiciness also present. Flavor is initially lightly sweet and finishes moderately bitter (also pretty normal for my tastebuds). Duration last an average amount of time. Medium bodied. Dry textured. Lively carbonation. This is a solid middle of the road IPA-balanced well.
