Commercial Description:
In the 1700's one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Bottle: Translucent orange hued golden, huge rocky white head, clumpy lacing, lively carbonation.   Rich hop oriented nose.   Slight pepper.   Solid hop bitterness, slightly sweet, even softer citrus peel.   Malt background is just enough to balance out the hop aspect.   This one is quite good, bitter yet not totally mouth watering.   Fairly well rounded body, moderate mouthfeel.   Clean finish, not overbearing bitterness at all, while remaining quite flavorful.   Solid example of the style.   I’m glad its finally in Washington.   I would love to try this on tap.

Pours medium golden, somewhat hazy. Aroma of hops, pines and wet forrest. Forms good size white foamy head. Flavor is of citrusy hops with a tinge of pine notes. Not exactly what I consider as a hophead IPA, but none the less a fairly good, and sessionable, beer.

Pours a coppery amber in color with a fluffy, white head. Soft floral hop nose with a lightly sour citrusy hop flavor. Subtle finish. Moderately flavorful, but not overly complex. A pretty good beer.

This beer pours a nice dark golden color with a better than average frothy head. The nose is dominated by hops and citrus. The taste wasn’t as hoppy as I would have liked. The finish was rich and malty. A higher ABV and more hops would help this one out.

a little thinner than i like my IPAs. some herbal flavors, perfume/earthy/grainy stuff combined with some orange and lemon zest on a nice malt backbone.

12oz Bottle: An orange pour topped by a creamy off white head. Has lots of clarity and leaves a consistent lacing. Appetizing aroma of perfumy hops, lots of pine & orange rind citrus, twiggy, and musty notes. Very bitter hoppy notes in the flavor. It initially has some citrus notes of bitter orange-rind, spicy/herbal honey, hints of vanilla sweetness are evident from the malt middle. The finish leans more toward a spicy hoppyness which is slightly minty. Has a bit of a musty basement character, however it’s subtle and doesn’t detract from the overall quality of this very enjoyable and well made IPA.

Nice cloudy orange color with a light head and average lacing. Aroma of pine, floral and hops but is a bit weak compared to some of the finer IPAs. Taste is so smooth and pure but again weak in hops and citrus flavor compared to some of my favorites. Finish is crisp and dry. Solid beer.
