Commercial Description:
In the 1700's one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

(Bottle) Pours a thin, white head and a deep amber body. Local sediment floaties! Full nose of Cascade hops that is reflected in the flavour, interesting grapefruit bitterness shows through mid-palate. Lasting bitter finish. Good! Many thanks to TChrome...

355ml bottle (Pikkulintu, Helsinki , American Week 2007). Clear and with a thick tight head. Typical US ale bitterness, which is an unsophisticated charicature of the UK IPA style, but done to the extreme. If you can ignore the intrusive hoppiness, there is some maltiness too, but you’ll never shake noticing the sweet grapefruity bitterness.

Hoppy bitter aroma that also brings some fruit. Flavor starts fruity and hoppy, but then the hops is growing stronger. Bitter finish.

Bottled, Stockholm Beer Festival. Dark yellow colour. Wow, flower, apricot nose. Very very smooth and mellow mouthfeel. Rich, and big hopbitter flavour with notes of citrus and a little salty, finish.

Bottle poured golden with an off white head. Aromas of citrus and pine. Flavors of pine and earthy hops, a hint of biscuits, with a bitter finish.

Bottle courtesy of biz82. Pours a slightly hazy bubbly copper with an average size diminishing fluffy off-white head. Aroma is big time hops, both citrus and floral. Flavour’s the same, big floral and citrus hops taste along with a good amount of sweet malt to balance it out and a nice long bitter dry finish -- delicious! Medium bodied. Very easy to drink and really flavourful, this is a top-notch session IPA.

Bottle at The Avery Experience. Light orange to golden with a tall rocky white head; lined lacing. Fragrant floral hop aroma with pine and grapefruit notes. Pine and citrus rind acidic resiny flavor with a roasted grain caramel malt body. Light to medium bodied and fizzy.
