Commercial Description:
In the 1700's one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Amber color with smallish head when poured in a St. Bernardus tulip glass. Beautiful floral hop aroma. The flavor is a sweet floral bitterness that is just incredible. Nice dry finish. Had it again @ Blind Tiger through Randall, which I didn't care for. Had it again on Randall and still didn't like it.

Pours a slightly hazy golden amber with a large foamy off white head that left lots of lacing. Aroma is very nice. First picked up orange and grapefruit from the hops. Sweet aroma overall. Maybe a touch of floral hops. Flavor is grapefruit, pine with a slight malt balance. A solid IPA for sure.

Way too hoppy for me as I am not a hop head by any means. It poured a small sized ivory head with fine-small bubbles that was mostly lasting. The body was clear with some carbonation observed and a golden hue. The nose was very hoppy as was the flavor which is of course very typical for an IPA. It left a lingering bitter aftertaste with a tingly and smooth mouthfeel and it was medium bodied. This IPA left a good lacing.

Thanks to matta for the bottle! Amber body with a small whitish head. Nose is BIG hops! Very floral and piney. However, there’s enough malt sweet lingering in the aroma to make it attractive. Light maple syrup notes. Taste is lightly spicy and hoppy with sweet, creamy maltiness, floral notes, and citrus fruits. Leans more towards the hops here. Body is smooth and mildly carbonated. Lingering bitterness throughout. Finishes with more hops, light spiciness, citrus notes, and mild sweetness.

Had on tap at the Ginger Man in Austin, Tx. Medium copper pour, decent white head, fair amount of lacing. Typical west coast grapefruity hoppiness, which is expected and not unappreciated, it’s just that these are all tasting quite the same - but will not mark this one down for that!. An excellent example of the style - clean, crisp and sharp, like a West Coast IPA should be. A bit of light spearmint undertone separates this one from the mases. Good example of the Amercian IPA style.

Draught at The Flying Saucer in Raleigh, NC. Clear yellow-orange color with lasting white head that laced the glass. BIG flowery hop nose. Crisp and dry, but too much carbonation upset my palate a bit. Very good flowery hop flavor and bitterness. A decent IPA, but smells better than it tastes.

Coppery colored, big yellow head. Flowery caramel and hops in fruity and lemony aroma. Medium bodied. Flavor is more crispy with hops and flowers, caramel and some perfumy tones also there. Good flavor, soft palate. Aftertaste is lemony and hopped.
