Commercial Description:
In the 1700's one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

These hops don’t mess around. They grab you and don’t let go until well after the last drop. Drink carefully and appreciate.

Bottle (35 cl) at Ölrepubliken, Göteborg, Sweden. Clear amber, medium off-white head. Floral and citric hop aroma with pine needles, on a solid malt base. Medium bodied and smooth. Long bitter finish. Nice!

12oz bottle. light haze, bright golden color, fluffy white head. Sweet aroma of ripened grapefruit. Is this a breakfast beer? flavor of rich grapefruit. Tastes like a fruit wedge! This beer is awesome. Decent malt foundation, lots of American hops. very hoppy, very balanced. How do you do that? This is delicious.

12 oz. bottle from Whole Foods Market Charlottesville. Golden orange pour with a medium head, good retention and lacing. A sweet malty aroma with leafy hop notes. Very malty IPA, sweet, with lots of bitter hop notes in the finish. Slightly sticky and full bodied.

a nice IPA. thick, hazy orange/copper color. medium head. The hop was citrus/slightly grapefruity. almost enough malt, but not quite. thin finish.(that, and the lack of malt balance are what keep it in the ’average-IPA’ category for me.)

On draft at Stateline from a year old keg or so, surprisingly nice stuff! The pour was orangey in color, fairly white to slight off white colored head. The aroma was citrus, pine resin, and some light fruity elements. The flavor followed, citrus the feature, yet a firm bittering hop ending, perhaps with some of those noble/Euro style hops? Finish had a firm bitterness that was enjoyable, a touch dry, nice. Thanks, Robert!

This IPA pours with an amber body topped by a thick off whitehead with a good amount of lacing. The aroma is bitter, hoppy and woody with soapy notes and, well, it smells like ass. The flavor is equally shitty and very bitter. Medium bodied and slightly dry.

This is an excellent IPA. Pale copper/amber cross, clear with a nice soupy white head with a touch of yellow in the foam. The aroma is a very complex hop profile. You’ve got pepper, citrus and pine all meshed together in a sinus-tingling mix. The flavor is fairly dry but manages to barely keep away from the all hop, no malt unbalancing of some IPAs. There’s still enough malt flavor in here to support the hops and bitterness despite it being very highly attenuated. Excellent IPA that excites the nose and tongue.
