Commercial Description:
In the 1700's one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

On draft at Stateline from a year old keg or so, surprisingly nice stuff! The pour was orangey in color, fairly white to slight off white colored head. The aroma was citrus, pine resin, and some light fruity elements. The flavor followed, citrus the feature, yet a firm bittering hop ending, perhaps with some of those noble/Euro style hops? Finish had a firm bitterness that was enjoyable, a touch dry, nice. Thanks, Robert!

350 mL bottle. Clear dark yellow with foamy white head. Aroma of grapefruit, pine, and hops. Citrus, pine, hemp notes, and a malty finish with some lingering bitterness.

12 fl. oz. bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Golden colour, big white head. Nice aroma of fruity and floral hops. The flavour is disctinctly hoppy throughout - plenty of American grapefruity and resinous hops, some malty sweetness in the middle, bitter finish and aftertaste. Quite good.

Amber and a bit unclear. Has a fine big head, mostly lasting. Good aroma, floral and perhaps peach-notes. Flavor is clear bitter, but also has a medium sweetness. Dry body.

I had this on draught today when I visited Avery's brewery in Boulder, Colorado. If you ever decide to visit them, be warned, this is a ***small*** place and easy to miss. Heed the directions on their website and turn by the carwash (they're behind it). The IPA poured a clear golded color with a hoppy flavor and nose. I thought it was very tasty.

Poured a dark yellow; medium size head. Aroma was citrus hops, earthy, mild malt. Crisp flavor. Hops and malt balanced very well. Citrus and floral. Pretty good for style.

Bottled. Citrus aroma. Slightly hazy orange coloured. Quite herbal, fruity flavour. Palate is bitter, but very refreshing.
