Commercial Description:
In the 1700's one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Coppery colour. Grapefruity aroma, with slight toast. Refreshing, crisp, lemony, grapefruity character. Very dry. The aroma is nice as the glass goes but the palate reveals itself fairly simple. In the rotation but not top of the charts, as IPAs go.

Beautiful copper color with a giant head. The aroma is sweet, hoppy, fruity (oranges, grapefruit and apricots) and with some vanilla. The body is full, malty, almost chewy even if the gravity is not high, with lovely hop resins and good fruitnees; mellow feeling. At this ABV, excellent!

(1/18/06) Crystal clear golden body with rocky off-white head. Aroma is medium sweet, grapefruit, some lemon. Taste is medium sweet, grapefruit, light lemon, caramel/cookie. Bitter, but not as much as I remember, though I last had it in the days before IIPAs. Medium body, quite drinkable. Excellent IPA, no letdown despite being a re-rate of one of my first 600 beers. (8/4/8/4/16)

(7/26/02) I know I’m a sucker for brews with big Cascade flavor, but so what! The aroma is strong grapefruit, letting you know what’s on its way. Flavorwise, this baby’s well-balanced, with a healthy malt backbone in support. A fine beer for those who like what it has to offer. (9/4/8/4/16)

This IPA has a nice, warm golden color and a good head. The aroma is nicely hopped with notes of fruit and a bit of caramel. I find the same notes in the flavour, that has a nice bitterness. A nice one!
