Commercial Description:
In the 1700's one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Pours a prismatic hue of orangish golden with a thin foamy off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit, piney mango skins, and spruce. First taste is slightly metallic, probably because it’s been a while since I’ve had a beer this hoppy. While this beer initially tastes like a hopbomb, it eventually mellows into a nice mix of citric hoppiness, alefruits, with a tangy, slightly dry finish. Mouthfeel is full bodied and resinous with lively carbonation. Definitely a beer that can satisfy my hop cravings.

From a 12 oz. long neck brown bottle with a picture of a 19th century map on the label, no freshness date. Poured a clear orange hued golden with a nice foamy, bubbly topped white head that settled into a sticky, thin, bubbly lacing, active carbonation. Had a big grapefruity hop aroma with bare hints of the distinctive Avery yeastiness in the background. A semi-creamy, bitter medium bodied mouth feel, above average drinkability. Had a crisp grapefruit rind hop bitterness upfront, rough on the tongue, and a lightly sweet, bitter creamy finish.

Color of orange jello; Head was decent and fluffy; Nose of mild citrus and bread. Real piney on the tongue at first. Turned quite dry towards the end.

tap @ papago. a crystal clear copper beer topped with a fluffy whitish head which leaves nice light lace work. grapefruit and orange aromas dominate over caramel, toasted grain, and light pine. flavor is nicely hopped w/o overkilling my palate... wood, citrus rind and a savory element which keeps it from being too sweet. grassy dry finish. nice texture and smooth mouth feel. 7/3/7/4/16/3.7

on tap this is the beez neez. perfectly balanced for sessioning yet crisp and refreshing enough to satisfy with just one. gotta respect a beer that can do that! 8/3/8/4/17/4

Nice hoppy pale aroma, kept a great head even though it was out of the bottle, a little bit of a orange-peel type of flavor, very crisp & clean

Aroma is poor as is coloration... not off to a good start. Scent is slightly skunky... hops are faint, especially for an IPA. Looks thin and light. Flavor is OK, but it feels really thin until the hops start to kick in. Flavors are nice, but weak.

(Draught) Appeared as orange and cloudy. Head was medium sized and white. Aroma was very fruity and hoppy. Palate had medium body and freshness with medium carbonation. Malts, hops, fruitiness, citricness, lightly sweetness and bitterness could be found from the taste of the beer. Aftertaste was fruity and bitter. Really good IPA.

Bottle courtesy of sloth. Pours a clear light orange with a thick, foamy white head. Aroma of floral, citrus, and bitter hops. Flavor of nice floral hops with a slight hint of bitter pine in the finish. Nice hops/malt balance. Excellent IPA.
