Commercial Description:
In the 1700's one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Moderate nose of some earthy hoppyness, very floral, a light sweetness in the background. Clear amber to golden colored brew with a healthy medium sized white head. Flavor starts out on a light malty note, then turns into a very piney hoppyness with huge notes of grapefruit, ends quite hoppy and lingers in the mouth for quite a while. A nice session IPA.

12oz bottle. Clear gold with lots of carbonation streams and a sticky head. Fruity hop aroma with grapefruit and tangerine, some pine, and a light, clean honey sweetness. Well balanced flavors with lightly sweet, toasty, honey malt balanced by fruity hops - Kiwi and citrus fruity. Finishes dry with a firm yet soft and pleasing bitterness. Nice citrus-laden IPA.

Pours light golden w/ full creamy, clumpy froth. Aroma is fresh lemon and grapefruit rind. Medium nectar w/ smooth and creamy residual effers. Flavors are dry and crisp w/ an aged citrus overtone and a bitter, asprin finish. Slight corriander spice.

Nice copper color with big fluffy white head. The aroma has some grapefruit, pine and malt but very subtle. Hoppy taste with some citrus and malt in there also. This is a very nice tasting IPA, not so overdone like some Avery beers.

a little light colored for an ipa, more yellow than a dark amber or orange. Typical american hops aroma, lots of grapefruit, and citrus, with some pine. A nice amount of malt to balance in the flavour. A good IPA.

Pours a medium copper color with a nice full white head. Smells of pine needles and citrus. Tastes citrusy, with a grapefruit prominence. Very similar to stone ipa and bells two hearted ale, yet lacking in the bite that those 2 have. Overall, an excellent ipa.

Source:Tap at Barley’s in Knoxville.
Glass:Pint.
Appearance:Clear gold/amber with a thin off white head.
Aroma:Bready malt and flowers, with a hint of citrus on the nose.
Flavor:Solid malt base with a resinous finish. A bit of citrus as well.
Palate:Medium body with solid carbonation.
Overall:This was good. I’ve had this from the bottle, but most times it isn’t fresh. Draught was far superior.
