Commercial Description:
In the 1700's one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Frothy, creamy, white head. Copper see through color. Hoppy aroma--can smell cascade over everything else--grapefruit. Decent maltiness calances okay with the strong bitterness. Solid IPA. Aftertaste lingers with slight bit of alcohol flavor.

Pale golden copper hue. Big whitish head dissipates to almost nothing. Floral, lemony citrus nose. Somewhat thin palate, grapefruit, pine needles, quite clean crisp and drinkable. I enjoy the beers from these guys immensely...keep em comin!

Pours a coppery amber in color with a fluffy, white head. Soft floral hop nose with a lightly sour citrusy hop flavor. Subtle finish. Moderately flavorful, but not overly complex. A pretty good beer.

(Bottle) Pours a dark golden color with a small head. Sweet, citrusy aroma. Nice solid palate, with average carbonation. Balanced flavor, which increases this beer’s drinkability. Nothing too wild here, but a very good IPA overall.

(11 Dec 05) Bottle. Poured a clear golden color with an inviting white head that mostly lasted and produced great lacing. Aroma of pine, grapefruit, and flowers. The flavor follows the same with pine and citrus but has malt undertones. Dry texture with a nice IPA bitterness. 7-4-7-3-15. (23Aug08) Draft. Orange in the glass with a creamy off-white head with good lacing. Nice grapefruit and pine aromas. The flavor was very fresh; pine, grapefruit, caramel. Medium body with a moderate bitterness throughout. 7-4-8-3-16. A great IPA, even better draft than in the bottle.

Strong aroma of citrus, especially grapefruit, while still in the bottle. That subsided after it was poured, giving way to a floral aroma and grassy smell with hints of citrus. And something else, something earthy, perhaps straw. The flavor was filled with hints of lemon and grapefruit and slightly sweet caramel. Nice dry, bitter aftertaste that isn’t overpowering. Thin to medium body with ample carbonation.

Very nice flowery aroma with rose and grapefruit. A bit artificial though. Normal beer colour with a red tint. Small white head. Nice palate, thick. Wide area of bitter flavour which do not interract very well. A bit disturbed, un-balanced.
