Commercial Description:
In the 1700's one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Re-tasted 5/27/03 Orange color. Medium head. Aroma is citrusy. A medium bodied IPA. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are grapefruity and spicy. Hoppy, crisp and clean. A nice IPA. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. ------- gold color, Large enormous head. Hoppy and slightly malty. There is an off-taste to this beer, overly hopped? Something spoiled? Mouthfeel is full, very hoppy. Finish is crisp. Aftertaste is hoppy and bitter. Need to re-taste, could be a BAD beer.

Pours a copper colour with a huge hoppy aroma that is citrusy, floral and a bit piney. Flavour is likewise with a bit of malt. Very nice

This brew poured a medium head of fine to medium sized white bubbles that lasted a long time and left behind a good lacing and a softly carbonated transparent yellow colored body. The aroma was all hops and the mouthfeel was bubbly and tingly from start to finish with a slight bitterness in the finish. Typical IPA. The flavor is nice for an IPA and all hops.

Bottle [Tasting @ Per 23-02-2007]. Head was small fizzy white and quickly goon. Fair lacing. Body was clear sparkling with a pale amber hue. Aroma was lovely pine, elder flower, grapefruit and other citrus notes. Some caramel and grain could be detected in mouth. Medium to full bodied with an average carbonation and a dry texture. Nice hope bitter flavor with a blend of sweet malt. Not as bitter as expected. As described the malty sweet finish is evident. Solid IPA.

Bottle 12oz. In me Ølfabrikken beerglass right now !! Amber - white head. Lovely flowery hopped aroma. Taste: resin, pine, flowery, grape, very hoppy, some nice malty sweetness. Dry bitter finish, not too much. I love IPA’s !!!

(Bottled@Stockholm Beer Festival 2005) Pale golden with a small head. Strongly flowery-hoppy aroma with toffee hints, quite balanced. flowery, aromatic-hoppy flavor with decent maltiness. Thick, slicky and bitter palate with low carbonation. A straightforward, but still balanced IPA.

Medium copper color with a substantial pillowy top. The aroma is merely vague, the beer’s only notable drawback. This is perfectly hopped, giving it a nice fruity and flowery character, but there’s a robust maltiness behind it and even a hint of smoke. Superb.
